High-scoring draw at Oatfield Park

Burton (186 for 4) drew with Haverfordwest 2nds (164 for 8)

Umpire: Simon Richards
Scorer: Kelly Williams (Haverfordwest)

There were runs galore at Oatfield Park as home side Burton built up a sizeable score of 186 for 7 and Haverfordwest Seconds were good value for the draw points on 164 for 8.

Toby Hayman led the Burton batting with a classy 62 (eight fours) ably assisted by new skipper Richard Jones (21) and former captain Morgan Scale (49 not out) as Clive Tucker (3 for 44) and Ashley James (2 for 61) were the main Town wicket-takers.

Veteran pace man Johnnie Scale was the best Burton bowler with a 3 for 13 haul alongside Morgan Scale (2 for 39) and Aled Thomas (1 for 11) but useful batting by Filgi Varghese (25), Nigel Morgan (36) and Jack Scriven (35) saw Haverfordwest earn the draw in an entertaining tussle.

Great start for Llechryd

Llechryd (171 for 6) beat Carew 2nds (77 all out) by 94 runs

Umpire: Arthur Brady
Scorers: Mike Newell

Steve Smith - excellent start for Llechryds stroke-makerLlechryd marked their return to Division Two with a big win over Carew Seconds as they amassed a useful score after being put in to bat first and then bowled out the opposition for only 77 runs.

Llechryd started well with Steve Smith (45) and Johnny Lewis (41) helping them to a useful total of 171 for 6 assisted by Ollie Roberts (18), with Dai Rees (4 for 40), Kerry Waters (1 for 34) and Harry Cook the Carew wicket-takers as the home side used all their allotted 45 overs.

But when Carew batted they toiled against Welsh over 60s pace man Peter Betterley (4 for 17 in 12 overs), Graham Keen (1 for 23), Johnny Lewis (2 for 24) and Leighton O’Connor, who marked his club debut with a 3 for 12 haul – and only Rees (with a gritty 49 not out) and Finn Bowie (10) managed double figures as the rest of their line-up struggled against such tight bowling.

Seasiders stumble at home to Narberth

Saundersfoot (167 all out) lost to Narberth (168 for 4) by six wickets

Umpires: Huw Davies & Ian Phillips
Scorers: Adge John & Emma Richards

Tom Mansbridge - splendid 92 for Saundersfoot teenagerNarberth showed they are ready to try and bounce back after relegation with this convincing win at Saundersfoot where they took only 27.5 overs to reach what seemed a decent home total.

Tom Mansbridge was hugely influential for Saundersfoot as the talented teenager scored a splendid 92 that included a liberal sprinkling of boundaries but just when a three-figure knock seemed on the cards he was bowled by Lewis Day, who also shifted James Caine (16) as part of a 4 for 21 haul.

Ben Quartermaine (1 for 45), Owen Richards (2 for 34), Ben Hughes (2 for 35) and Lewis Hough (1 for 18) were the other Narberth wicket-takers as Toby Pappachan was the other Saundersfoot batsman to start well with 21 runs as they were dismissed for 167 all out in 44.1 overs.

Ritchie Adams (42) and Jordan Howell (50) launched the Narberth response before Kyle Quartermaine (21) and his brother Ben (25 not out) took them home despite the bowling of John Mansbridge (1 for 57) and Toby Pappachan (3 for 49).

Llangwm in a rich vein of runs

Stackpole (130 all out) lost to Llangwm (262 for 6) by 132 runs

Umpire: Neil Croucher

Noah Davies - 80 superb runs for LlangwmLlangwm showed they could be a force to be reckoned with after the disappointment of relegation as they amassed a huge total at Stackpole and then dismissed the home side for less than half of their 262 for 6.

Leading the way for Llangwm with boundary-laden innings were Will Beresford (59), Noah Davies (80), Richard Brock 38 and Joseph Kiff (59 not out) as only Huw Cox (4 for 71) made any real impact with the ball for the homesters.

Cox also contributed 30 alongside Josh Davies (36) but all the other Stackpole batsmen struggled against Noah Davies (2 for 24), Matthew Kiff (2 for 25) and especially Ollie Davies (5 for 44) as Llangwm were rewarded with a maximum points haul for their efforts.

Bennett bombs out Borderers Seconds

Whitland 2nds (46 all out) lost to Llanrhian (50 for 0) by 10 wickets

Matthew Bennett - impressive 7 for 20 haul for Llanrhian pace manUmpire: Robert Ridge
Scorer: Jenny Davies-Scourfield

Opening bowler Mathew Bennett ensured Llanrhian made a flying start to their season as they easily beat a depleted Whitland seconds.

Bennett set the tone when he had home skipper Dai Lee caught in the slips by Sam Kurtz off the first ball of the game, and then bowled Che Thomas for a duck to leave Whitland 1 for 2 off their first over.
Lee’s men soon slumped to 16-8, but No 7 Gethin Benjamin hit five fours in his 25, to at least gain his side a batting point.

But Gethin Scourfield was the only other player to reach double figures with 10 (two fours) – as Bennett finished with 7 for 22 from his 10.2 overs, with Dafydd Williams (2 for 11) and Karl Davies (1 for 12) helping complete the job.

Richard Reed’s side then made quick work of their run chase, needing fewer than five overs to reach their target as Paul Lewis sped to 37 not out (seven fours and a six), before fellow opener Ben Jones (11 not out) struck two boundaries himself to seal the win and an early 3.15pm finish!
