Despite awful weather that struck the county on Saturday both scheduled Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division games went ahead.
Merlins Bridge entertained West Dragons in a windswept derby encounter on The Racecourse. It was the Wizards who came out on top winning by
4-0 against the visitors who will feel bitterly disappointed with the final result. Stephen McNabney netted a brace alongside goals from Nathan Greene and an own goal to secure the points. The Bridge have gone third in the table, two points behind Narberth, but they’ve played two games more than the league leaders.
In a bottom end of the table south county derby clash Pennar Robins drew
2-2 with Hundleton. South Southcott and Phil John found the back of the net for the Robins, whilst Jamie Stanley and Daniel Preece scored for the visitors.
A lot of our top teams should have played in the second round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup, but many of them were postponed.
Here are the games that did take place involving teams from around the county. Starting at Carew who won
2-1 at home against Sunnybank, grabbing the goals for the victors were Gareth Brown and James Hinchliffe.
Saundersfoot Sports lost
4-0 at Brunswick United. Neyland also lost
4-2 at Dafen Welfare, Sean Hannon (penalty) and Patrick Bellerby grabbed the Nomads’ goals.
Goodwick United won
3-1 at home against Monkton Swifts. Daniel Scourfield scored that gave the Swifts a one-goal cushion at half time. But the homesters hit back with second half goals from James Evans (penalty), Aled Rees and Jac Pepper, the Swifts finished the game with ten-men as Jamie Callan was sent off in the second period.
Chris Thompson scored twice to earn Milford United a slender 2-1 victory over Bonymaen Colts at Marble Hall
Narberth played 29 minutes of their cup-tie at Kilvey Fords, but it was abandoned as high winds made the game unplayable.
