There was plenty of FAW Trophy Round 2 and Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division action on Saturday.

Starting in the FAW Trophy, there was mixed fortunes for our Pembrokeshire teams. Matthew D’Ivry and Joe Leahy scored for Merlins Bridge who suffered a heavy 2-6 defeat at home at the hands of Swansea University to bow out. However, Hakin United thrashed Port Tennant Colts 7-2 at the Obs. The Vikings found themselves 2-0 adrift until they fought back with goals from Justin Harding (4), Shane Walsh, Daniel Armstrong and Adam John to cruise into the next round.

In the First Division there was a shock for leaders Carew who went down 2-4 at home against St Clears. Starring for the Saints was Tristan Hancock who scored twice alongside further goals by team-mates Steve Thomas and Josh Jones to secure the pointd. This was the Rooks’ first defeat of the season, and their goal scorers were Lloyd Hughes and Jordan Richards.

Pennar Robins narrowly lost 1-2 at home against new leaders Goodwick United. Wayne O’Sullivan netted for the visitors before Nick Willis equalised, smack on full time and Matty Delaney scored a terrific winner.

Herbrandston lost 0-2 at home against Clarbeston Road; Sean Seymour-Davies netted both goals.

Lamphey suffered a heavy 2-11 defeat against derby rivals Monkton Swifts. Finding the back of the net for the Swifts were Jimmy Russell 4, Shaun Jones 2, Ben Steele, Ryan Griffiths, Thomas Powell, Dylan Davies and Blake James. The Stags’ scorers were Gareth Richards and Mikey Davis.

Milford United narrowly lost 1-2 against Neyland at Marble Hall. Liam Parr struck for the Robins, but the Nomads secured victory with goals by Andrew Smith and Patrick Bellerby.

Narberth were beaten 0-2 at home against Saundersfoot Sport, the visitors’ scorers were Chris Millward and Ryan Howells.
