Senior Cup Round 1

Camrose 3 – Letterston 2

Skipper Joe Haworth scored a dramatic stoppage time winner for ten-man Camrose who twice came from behind against a gutsy Letterston performance to progress in the Senior Cup.

This game at Folly Field is exactly why supporters love the romance of the cup, it had everything, a cup tie played with plenty of spirit, five goals, a red card and to top it all a dramatic finish.

Division Two Camrose play one league higher than Third Division Letterson, but as we all know, cup football can be a leveller, and it was well refereed by Sean O’Connor.

The visitors broke the deadlock on the 20 minute mark as the creative Jordan White set-up goal scorer Miles Morgan.

On the half hour mark the hosts equalised as Haworth found the back of Andrew Sharp’s net.

Just before the break Camrose were reduced to ten-men as defender Paul Jenkins received a straight red card from O’Connor as the score was level at 1-1.

This pulsating cup tie continued in the same vein in the second period as Steffan Morgan put Letterson 2-1 ahead thanks to a neat White assist, the latter’s second of the game.

But there was a dramatic fight back by ten-man Camrose, in the 77th minute Andrew John equalised, a rare but timely goal for the experienced defender.

In the 93rd minute up popped skipper Haworth, who bagged the winner, for his second of the tie, to brake spirited Letterston’s hearts.
