Senior Cup holders Hakin hit double figures past Pendine
Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League -
Senior Cup Round 1:
Hakin United 10 Pendine 0
Cameron Brunton struck five times to help cup holders Hakin United cruise into round two as they hit double figures against Division 3 side Pendine.
The game was switched to The Obs after the inclement weather before Christmas saw it twice postponed in Pendine, and there was little doubt about the outcome from the moment Leon Luby teed up Matthew Broome to open the scoring 12 minutes in.
Luby was again the provider when Ashley Bevan scored the second, and the forward struck again in-between two Brunton goals to make it 5-0 at the break.
To Pendine's credit, they kept battling under constant pressure, but Hakin keeper Rory Williams didn't have a proper save to make and Brunton sealed his hat-trick with a sharp finish on the hour mark.
He grabbed two more before Liam Parks made it 9-0, and then injury time Bevan completed his treble with the goal of the game, curling in a superb shot past away keeper James Stephenson.
"It was a comfortable win but Pendine put up a fight until the end," said Hakin manager Scott Davies, who was also able to welcome Jack Britton back into the side after two months out.

Prior to kick-off, all players and spectators took part in a minute's applause, in memory of former Hakin player Colin Picton and Adam Arnott, who was tragically killed last week in Thailand and has links to many club players.
