Relegation and promotion fate announced for Pembrokeshire football clubs

Relegation and promotion has been announced by FAW

The frustrating wait on relegation and promotion for Pembrokeshire football clubs is over following an announcement by the FAW today.

It was confirmed this afternoon that teams will be going up and down.

Clubs have been kept in suspense about promotion and relegation for a month after the final placings were decided by a points per game average.

Those who finished in the top two of the lower leagues can now celebrate, albeit via Zoom or with one other teammate at a reasonable distance of course. And for the likes of Saundersfoot, who have endured a difficult campaign in Division 1, the chance to go down and rebuild will be welcomed.

Some won’t be happy and you can understand the annoyance. There was still a large chunk of the season to go and inevitable twists to come at both ends of the table.

However, from the moment news leaked that the FAW were going to adjudicate on final standings and award titles – then they had to follow through with this step.

It isn’t a perfect solution, but half measures would have just appeared a feeble attempt at compromise.

The following can now be confirmed

Division 1
Champions: Hakin United.
Relegated: Saundersfoot Sports and St Clears

Division 2
Promoted: St Ishmaels (champions) and Hundleton
Relegated: Lawrenny and Johnston

Division 3
Promoted: Monkton Swifts 2nds (champions) and Milford Athletic
Relegated: Letterston and Pembroke Boro

Division 4:
Promoted: Broad Haven 2nds (champions) and Tenby
Relegated: St Clears 2nds and Solva 2nds

Division 5:
Promoted: Carew 3rds (champions) and Hundleton 2nds
