Mighty Vikings cause another cup upset on the road

Justin Harding pounced for a late equaliser for Hakin

FAW Trophy – Round 3

Garden Village 1 – Hakin United 2

It was a familiar comeback, it was a familiar score line, it was a familiar outcome as Hakin United deservedly won against Garden Village to progress to the next round of the FAW Trophy at Stafford Common on Saturday.

The Vikings are doing it the hard way with already famous away wins at Goodwick United, Cwmamman United, and now the scalp of Garden Village.

Brandon Yeap opened the scoring before Justin ‘Skinny’ Harding equalised with a stunning strike to level matters at the break. In the second half Adam ‘Titch’ John grabbed the winner for the delighted Vikings.

It was the hosts who took an early lead as the ball came off the crossbar and fell kindly to Brandon Yeap had the simple task of a tap-in.

Both Harding and Ashley Bevan came close to scoring as the visitors pressed for an equaliser.

The Vikings solid defence consisting of Leon Luby, Jay Power, Camron Thomas and Jake Merry all had fine games.

Great strike by Harding

The visitors deservedly equalised in the 31st minute with the best goal of the game, Harding struck a worldie which flew in the top corner.

Matthew Broome put in another strong performance in midfield alongside the industrious teammates Jack Britton, Ashley Bevan, Garin Gardner and Adam ‘Titch’ John.
