Swansea City celebrate victory against Norwich City

Championship

Swansea City 2 – Norwich City 1

Swansea City deservedly overcame hotly fancied Norwich City at the Swansea.com Stadium to pick up their third league win on the trot on Tuesday evening.

Jamal Lowe scored with a header that gave the Swans an early lead, it was cancelled out by a neat Gabriel Sara equaliser, before Bashir Humphreys lashed home an 83rd minute  winner, his first goal for the club.

As a result, Michael Duff’s Swans outfit have moved up to fifteenth in table as Norwich slipped to seventh.

The Swans started brightly and were rewarded early when skipper Matt Grimes ran strongly into the Canaries’ box  before neatly setting up Jamal Lowe controlled and struck his right footed shot past Angus Gunn into the far corner.

The visitors equalised through Gabriel Sara who headed home from close range after good work down the left by Jonathan Rowe.

Minutes later Jack Stacey forced an excellent finger tip save from Carl Rushworth, the right sided wing back struck from the edge of the box.

At the other end Swans’ striker Jerry Yates failed to get a strong connection with a header inside the box also Josh Key tried a shot from distance.

Just before the interval Grimes struck a low cross across the face of goal, miraculously it missed everyone.

On the hour mark Norwich manager David Wagner made a triple substitution adding fresh legs as Adam Idah, Przemyslaw Placheta and Onel Hernandez were replaced by Hwang Ui-Jo, Adam Forshaw, and Tony Springett respectively.

Ben Gibson saw his firm header from a corner well saved by Rushworth, minutes later Swans’ substitute Ollie Cooper, on for Liam Cullen found the back of the net from a rebound inside the box, but it was frustratingly ruled offside.

The Swans got their noses in front when Bashir Humphreys hammered his volley into the roof of the net following a goalmouth scramble, minutes earlier Yates had a header cleared off the line.
