Hairdresser Georgia Scriven kindly sponsors Milford United Under 8s

Milford United Under 8s wearing new kit With Junior Football having finally been given the go-ahead for playing the game these kids love, the talented youngsters of Milford United Under 8s have been given a real boost with a smart new set of kit and there is very much a family connection involved.

Garin Scriven had decided to Join his life-long mate Joel Codd coaching Milford United under 8s, this season, after they had enjoyed being in Johnston school together, then played for Johnston from under 9s right through too under 16s, where they were coached by Garin’s dad Richard, perhaps better known for his cricket and rugby involvement over many years.

The bulk of the Milford United team have played together for a couple of seasons as the Haverfordwest Cricket Club Colts with Garin as coach and with Garin’s son Dexter and Joel’s lad Noah both now playing for The Young Robins. Joel is also godparent to Dexter, to complete this smashing friendship circle.

Georgia steps in with generous sponsorship

They needed a new strip and when Georgia Scriven opened her own ‘Hair Salon at 22’, last October, in Withybush, she heard Garin and Joel were looking for a main sponsor for this season she was all too ready to help and buy the new team their first kit, so it’s nice for them to have kept it in family.

It means that Georgia was delighted to help out from the salon to get football back played and at the moment friendly games at this age are being organised through the coaches as Pembrokeshire League official fixtures haven’t started.

And the Milford United youngsters have started off really well with a narrow 3-2 win over a strong Prendergast Villa team at under 8s and when they were struggling to find a fixture for the next weekend, so not to miss out, they played Clarbeston Road under 9s, rather than not play, which was a great learning curve and they put up a spirited performance against the year older boys in a match that was a credit to both clubs.
