Guto was spot on for Goodwick against Hakin in Jubilee Cup
2025 Jubilee Cup
Goodwick United 1 – Hakin United 0

A late Guto Roberts penalty earned Goodwick United a hard fought slender victory against Hakin United on a sun-kissed evening in front of a good crowd at Marble Hall,
writes Gordon Thomas.
This game was played in memory of Brian Hawkins, the former league secretary who will be remembered for his immense contribution to the game - both on and of the pitch.
His wife Tracey and daughter Hannah attended the game as they presented the Jubilee Cup in the post-match presentation. All the money raised from the entrance admission will be put towards the Cancer Research Charity.
This game between two heavyweights in the Pembrokeshire League top flight produced another fully committed clash with neither side giving an inch.
Both teams were not at full strength but it didn’t deter from Goodwick last season’s champions and Hakin the Senior Cup and West Wales Cup winners putting in strong performances.
As the ball pinged around the Goodwick 18 yard box, Camron Thomas’ wicked goal-bound drive was blocked.
At the other end, Will Haworth’s well-flighted free kick inside the Vikings’ box was met by a far post diving header from Goodwick skipper Scott Delaney which struck the post.
As this game ebbed and flowed, the Vikings came close to breaking the deadlock when Leon Luby’s corner was met by a powerful Mark Jones header which crashed against James Gwilt’s crossbar.
Five minutes before the interval Goodwick’s Will Haworth was yellow-carded and sin-binned for ten minutes by referee Roy Boswell for some unnecessary back chat.
In the second period both sides made changes as they went in search for an elusive winner.
The defining moment came in the 84
th minute when Goodwick were awarded a penalty as Hakin’s right back Keiran King mistimed his tackle on Goodwick’s Daniel James, who tumbled inside the box. Up stepped substitute Roberts who coolly slotted past Rory Williams, who he sent the wrong way.
Two minutes from full time Hakin came close to levelling matters as Cameron Brunton’s edge of the area rising shot crashed against the bar.
