Goodwick give it high fives to dump Treowen Stars out of FAW Amateur Trophy
FAW Amateur Trophy - Round 3
Treowen Stars 2- Goodwick United 5

Goodwick United put on a five-star display to unceremoniously dump Treowen Stars out of the FAW Amateur Trophy at Bush Park.
This was a massive scalp for Chris O’Sullivan’s’ Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League Division One champions, to travel to Gwent and comprehensively beat the mid-table placed Ardal League South East outfit.
The Goodwick script didn’t start perfectly as it was the Stars who got off to a bright start as they put the visitors under pressure.
In the 22
nd minute the Stars took the lead as Morgan Evans ran clear before he slotted past Kyle Marsh as it went in off the post.
But the visitors reacted within four minutes as they got back on level terms with an absolute belter from Dan James, Jake Smith slipped the ball to the wide sided midfielder, he cut in and struck a 20 yard screamer into the top corner.
Just before the break Goodwick got their noses in front, midfielder Rhys Jones edge of the area left footed shot was parried by Cale Jones, Jones reacted quickest to fire in his and his side’s second.
Nine minutes after half time the visitors levelled it at 2-2, former amateur Welsh international Christian Davies scored from a direct free kick.
However, O’Sullivan’s side finished the stronger as they grabbed three further goals to ease into the next round.
On the hour mark Will Haworth scored with a bullet header provided by a pinpoint Rhys Dalling cross.
In the 76
th minute Jones added the fourth with a superb trademark free kick, in stoppage time Dalling was on target with the fifth to put the gloss on an impressive cup win for Goodwick.
