Four star Price leads Hakin United Over 40s from the front

Matthew Price scored four goals for Hakin Over 40s

Welsh Veterans' Over 40s League:

Hakin United Over 40s 6 - Carn Rovers 1

Hakin United Over 40s picked up their first points of the season with a comfortable 6-1 victory at home to Carn Rovers of Bridgend last Sunday.

Their success came from their solid platform at the back as Jason Morgan had control of his area and his back four of Nick Jones, Richard Bland, Paul Hannon and Adam Collins really put a squeeze on the Carn attackers for most of the match.

The Vikings were quick out of the blocks and Leigh Walters opened the scoring from a tight angle after good work by Ricky Morgan, Joff Lennon and Mike McCarthy before Matthew Price made it 2-0 with a left-footed shot that went through several players and in off the far post.

Hakin were well on top at this stage as Price fired through a crowded penalty area for number three and the same player beat the offside trap to race clear and make it 4-0.

Minutes later, Nick Jones set up Price for a simple tap in for him to grab his fourth goal of the game. Carn pulled a goal back through Robert Pinches before half time, but the result was never in doubt.

In the second half, Leigh Walters grabbed his second goal of the game to complete the scoring and put The Vikings in good heart for next Sunday, as they travel to Pentyrch Rangers.
