The Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League kicked off the new season on Monday (18
th August) evening - and incredibly it was greeted with fair bit of rain after such a glorious spell of weather in our county.
Ross’s late goal saves Goodwick’s blushes
Goodwick United 2 - Merlins Bridge 2
Ross Jones bagged a stoppage time equaliser on his league debut for Goodwick United against Merlins Bridge at a damp Phoenix Park.
The champions went the whole of last season unbeaten in the league; however, The Phoenix Lads came close to losing in the first league game of the season.
Rhys Jones scored from the spot kick which gave the hosts an early lead, midway through the first half The Wizards equalised through Tom Jago who also made no mistake from the penalty spot.
In the 87
th minute Sam Nicholas scored what looked like a late winner for The Bridge, but deep in stoppage time up popped Jones to bag a stoppage time equaliser to save Goodwick's blushes.

Tenby claim victor at Narberth

Promoted Narberth conceded a goal in each half as Tenby picked up the all-important win at Jesse Road.
The visitors bagged a goal with only two minutes on the clock, the scorer was Shaun Whitfield who recently signed from Carew, it gave the 29 year old a dream start for his new club.
Tenby led 1-0 at the break and in the 56
th minute Daryl Williams added a second goal for Tenby and there was no way back for the new boys.

Vikings too hot for Pennar

Hakin United banged in five goals without reply against Pennar Robins to pick up three comfortable points at Bush Camp.
The Vikings controlled matters and they were rewarded when Cameron Brunton opened the scoring against his former teammates from a close range rebound inside the box.
Jack Griffiths teed-up Cameron Thomas who made no mistake with a far post volley as The Vikings led 2-0 at half time.
Midway through the second period The Vikings were awarded a penalty that Leon Luby made no mistake from 12 yards for goal number three.
Kieran King added a fourth with a well drilled edge of the area shot, two minutes later Liam Parks added the fifth, the striker finished clinically from ten yards.

Keenly contested draw at Monkton Lane
Monkton Swifts 1 Carew 1
Games between Monkton Swifts and Carew are always keenly contested as both sides had to settle for a draw at Monkton Lane.
After a goalless first period it was Jamie Wilkes who gave The Swifts the lead as he struck just five minutes after the interval
Back came The Rooks who equalised through Tom Meiring who made no mistake with a neat 12 yard finish to complete the scoring.

Tish draw at home against Kilgetty

Tyler Shiel struck a late equaliser to help St Ishmaels who came from behind to share the spoils with Kilgetty.
The visitors got off to a bright start as Richard Tebbutt set-up Henry Lawrence who found the back of the net which they held on to at half time.
Midway through the second half the hosts levelled matters as Adam Kingfisher scored, eight minutes later Kilgetty restored the lead as Rhys Hewson played in substitute Tyler James.
Seven minutes from full time Tish levelled matters as Sol Goodall assisted for Shiel who bagged a timely goal for battling Tish.

Thomas bags late winner for The Road

Clarbeston Road super sub Steffan Thomas bagged a late winner against last season’s Division Two champions Fishguard Sports.
Phil Jones’ newly promoted Sports’ outfit lead through a well taken Adam Lawrence goal. The visitors had chances to extend the lead but in the 64
th minute The Road were awarded a penalty that skipper Matthew Davies made no mistake to level matters.
Both sides created further chances which were not taken, just six minutes from time sub Thomas bagged a crucial winner for The Road.
