Goodwick are too hot for The Wizards

Goodwick United gained a thoroughly deserved convincing victory against Merlins Bridge at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village.
 
Earlier in the season when both sides last met it finished in a 2-2 draw, but this time around it was the Phoenix Lads who controlled matters to secure their sixth win of the season.
 
The visitors grabbed an early goal through striker Tom Jago who found the back of Gary Thomas’ net against his former teammates.
 
There were no further goals in the first period, but it was  Goodwick who grabbed an important as Stef Hayes’ throw-in led to midfielder Rhys Jones making no mistake.
 
In the 67th minute it was Will Haworth who scored his side’s third when a quickly taken free kick by Josh Wood saw the wide side midfielder score from inside the box.
 
Three minutes later Jonny Horgan threaded a well weighted pass to Haworth who raced clear before he cut inside and lashed  home from 12 yards which completed the scoring.
 
Congratulations to Goodwick United manager Nigel Delaney who was deemed the man of the match for the Wales Over 50s against England Over 50s clash  which finished in a goalless draw on Saturday evening.

Superb Russell hat-trick helps Swifts defeat Carew

 

Carew 2 – Monkton Swifts 5

 

James Russell in action for The Swifts against Hakin recently, bagged a superb hat-trick at Carew.James Russell bagged a superb hat-trick which helped Monkton Swifts to a comprehensive victory against Carew at the Gerald Hicks Memorial Ground.
 
At the start of the season Carew drew 1-1 at Monkton, however Russell starred for the Swifts who finished strongly to pick up three valuable points as they sit second in the table whilst The Rooks are second from bottom.
 
Russell struck an early opener before Daniel Fames added a second midway through the first period, on the stroke of half time Sam Christopher pulled one back for the hosts.
 
In the 68th minute skipper James Hinchliffe assisted for Jordan Richards to equalise, just six minutes later The Swifts regained the lead as Russell struck again and on the 80 minute mark the striker completed his treble, on the stroke of full time Conner Davies struck the Swifts’ fifth,
