John scores twice to secure tight win for Clarby

 

Clarbeston Road 2 – Neyland 1

 
Striker Ben John scored twice to help Clarbeston Road edge out Neyland at Knockfield.
 
The hosts opened the scoring in the 16th minute when a Neyland half clearance fell to John who struck a firm shot past Patrick Hannon.
 
The Nomads were unlucky not to equalise as Max Bowman-Davies’ pinpoint cross was met by a firm Mike Chandler header which was blocked in the area.
 
Four minutes before the break Bowman-Davies’ low fierce shot struck both posts but incredibly didn’t cross the line as the hosts held onto a slender one goal cushion at the interval.
 
Shortly after the break the Road doubled the lead as Rob Morgans low shot was parried by keeper Patrick Hannon only for John to make to mistake with the rebound.
 
In the 67th minute the visitors pulled one back as Sean Hannon’s header across the box is played back by Morgan James for an easy tap-in for Corey Richards.
 
The Nomads had a strong penalty appeal flatly turned down by referee Steff Jenkins, in the 78th minute Sean Hannon found the back of the net, but his effort was ruled offside.
 
Before the game both teams observed a minutes silence for former Neyland player Eddie Collins.

Jones’ double sinks Kilgetty

 
 

Goodwick United 4 – Kilgetty 2

 
Rhys Jones - scored twice for GoodwickGoodwick United remained six points clear at the top of the table following this comfortable win against seventh placed Kilgetty at Phoenix Park.
 
Chris O’Sullivan’s team built-up a deserved 2-0 cushion at half time as midfielder Rhys Jones was set up by Dan James to open the scoring. The same combination set-up the second, but this time  it was James who found the back of the net.
 
Shortly after the interval skipper Josh Bevan pulled one back for the visitors before Rhys Dalling added his side’s third.
 
Jones added his side’s fourth for his second goal of the game which was assisted by Jonny Horgan.
 
Two minutes from the end Bevan scored his second for the visitors, but it was the league leaders who bagged the precious points come the final whistle.

Merlins Bridge 4 – Fishguard Sports 1

 
Nick Squire bagged two goals to help Merlins Bridge to victory over battling Fishguard Sports at the Pembrokeshire Village ground.
 
In the seventh minute Squire opened the scoring, however, the visitors equalised in the 27th minute as Ieuan Llewellyn struck following a mistake by keeper James Dickson.
 
The Wizards got on top in the second period as Squire scored his side’s second, Jordan Richards was on target with goal number three, in stoppage time teenager Lewis Miller struck the fourth.

Swifts and Robins settle for a draw

This south county derby finished all square in a competitive tussle between Monkton Swifts and neighbours Pennar Robins at Monkton Lane.
 
The Robins who are fourth from bottom are three points clear of the dreaded drop whilst the Swifts sit fourth in the table.
 
The visitors got off to a flyer as striker Phil Thompson struck which gave the Robins the lead that they held onto until half time.
 
In the 73rd minute the hosts finally levelled matters as Jamie Wilkes assisted for substitute Joe Leahy (signed from Merlins Bridge) came off the bench to score on his debut for the Swifts.

Important wins for Tish against Saints

 

St Ishmaels 2 – St Clears 1

 
Second from bottom St Ishmaels came from behind to defeat rock bottom ten-man St Clears.
 
Gerard Gray’s Tish outfit are currently two points from safety after this crucial win, there’s still work to be done if they are to escape the dreaded drop as the Saints are all but relegated.
 
Sam Nicholas scored to give the visitors an early lead before Owen Lawrie assisted for Kieran Rendell to level matters 1-1 at half time.
 
The second period was evenly contested until eight minutes from the end as Joel Morgan bagged the winner for Tish whilst Saints’ skipper Nathan Evans saw red.
