Steffan’s late header puts brakes on The Vikings

 

Clarbeston Road 1 – Hakin United 1

 
Clarbeston Road came from behind to secure a hard-fought draw with Hakin United at Knock Field.
 
In midweek the Vikings drew 1-1 with league leaders Goodwick United at home, Sion O’Sullivan gave the visitors a first half lead, but in stoppage time Leon Luby scored to salvage a point for Scott Davies’ Vikings.
 
The Vikings currently sit nine points behind leaders Goodwick United, they have two games to play in midweek to finish their league campaign, away to Merlins Bridge on Tuesday also home against Fishguard Sports on Thursday.
 
Last December, The Vikings left it late to narrowly beat The Road 3-2 at the Obs, so they came into this clash knowing it wasn’t going to be easy.
 
The Vikings had the better of the first half before finally breaking the deadlock two minutes before half time, Matthew Broome’s clever ball fell to Shane Walsh who neatly lobbed keeper Sam Edge from the edge of the box, incredibly it Was Walsh’s 40th goal of the season in all competitions.
 
Again, the second period was keenly contested, but ten minutes from full time The Road equalised as Steffan Williams nodded home Matthew Davies’ corner.

It finished all square with Matthew Ellis’ Clarbeston Road finishing their league season in a creditable fifth spot in the table.

Carew finished their season with an emphatic seven-goal victory against Fishguard Sports at Tregroes.
 
Rob Scourfield’s Carew outfit have finished the season third in the table, in this clash they dominated against Brian Kinsella’s young outfit.
 
The star for The Rooks was once again striker Adam Muskett who netted five time one of which was a penalty.
 
Jack Lear was on target with the visitors’ third goal also Spencer Williams was on target with goal number five.
 
The Sports travel to Hakin on Thursday no matter what the result is they will finish seventh in the table.
