Pennar Robins 2 - 4 Fishguard Sports

Adam Lawrence - scored twice for Fishguard Sports at Pennar RobinsRelegated haunted Fishguard Sports battled to an important victory against Pennar Robins at Bush Camp.

The Sports started the much better team and took the lead in the 9th minute thanks to a long throw in, somehow bouncing in the home side’s box for it to be looped in by Adam Lawrence.

The goal seemed to wake the Robins up as they finally got the ball down and equalised after a good passage of play from Edmundson and Grimwood allowed Jack Jones to cooly finish inside the 18 yard box.

The home side were now in the ascendancy and were dominating the play and possession. The first yellow card of the game for Patrick Hughes for a cynical handball as Willis attempted to play through Grimwood.

Pressure continued and the home side took a deserved 2-1 lead thanks to Jones’ second of the match at the back post after a pinpoint cross from Nick Willis and that’s how it stayed at half time

The away side equalised in the first minute of the second half as another long throw wasn’t dealt with and an own goal from Bobby Jones. Only two minutes later and Josh Bland pounced on a second ball from a corner and buried his shot from 22 yards past Protheroe and within four minutes the game was turned on its head.

More yellows appeared as the away manager Phil Jones & centre half Couzens were cautioned along with the home side’s Nick Willis as the game went up a notch, the former caught late and had to be withdrawn.

Adam Lawrence pounced for his second of the game to get the crucial fourth from another long throw-in as the home side remained second to everything before losing instrumental skipper Kieran Smith to another ankle injury.

The Robins attempted to get back into it by applying waves of pressure to the Sports’ goal but couldn’t find an equaliser from the chances that were created as The Sports held on for a cracking win on the road.
