Neyland goal hero Mike Chandler competes in the aerial stakes at FishguardFishguard Sports 2 – Neyland 3

Mike Chandler scored a late spectacular volley to secure an important victory for Neyland against Fishguard Sports who felt they deserved a draw at the very least.

With the game level at 2-2 Chandler struck a superb winner as the midfielder struck his defining effort which looped over Sports’ keeper Ryan Sinnott to secure the Nomads’ fifth win of the season.

However, it was the Sports who struck early as Danny Hopkins’ low shot deflected into the net past Jack Payne.

The visitors equalised in the 18th minute as Fletcher Picton’s cross from the left was met by a firm Aidan Rees far post header.

The Nomads took the lead in the 23rd minute, goal scorer Rees’s returned the compliment as his cross fell to Picton, the teenage striker swivelled in the box and drilled home.

Two minutes after half time the Nomads’ offside trap got caught out as Danny Hopkin took advantage to equalise.

In the 80th minute Chandler’s stunning strike won the day for the Nomads as the Sports were left to lick their wounded pride.
