Willis brace helps Robins chalk up first win of season

 

Pennar Robins 3 – St Clears 2

 
Nick Willis scored a superb brace to help Pennar Robins gain a hard-fought victory against St Clears at Bush Camp.
 
This was the Robins’ first win of the season which moved them up to seventh in the table while the Saints sit ninth.
 
The visitors opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Nick Squire got on the end of Josh Jones’ ball in the box.
 
However, The Robins equalised six minutes before the break as Craig Asparassa teed-up Willis who made it 1-1 at the interval.
 
In the 58th minute the hosts got their noses in front as Phil Thompson found the back of Daniel James’ net.
 
In the 77th minute the Robins went 3-1 ahead as Thompson det-up Willis who coolly fired home.
 
Five minutes from the end Nathan Evans pulled one back for the Saints, but it was a classic case of too little to late as the hosts bagged their first win of the campaign.

Alfie Stotter - two-goal hero for Merlins BridgeAlfie Stotter bagged a dramatic 98th minute stoppage time winner for Merlins Bridge who narrowly overcame spirited fellow first division rivals Fishguard Sports at their new 4G pitch to progress in the Senior Cup.
 
With the score level at 2-2, extra time looked on the cards, but a last gasp winner scored from a Stotter free kick broke the Sports’ hearts.
 
If the Wizards thought this was going to be an easy passage it was anything but, as Phil Jones’ Sports fought for every ball and scrap of possession.
 
After a goalless first period, the tie came alive in the second half, three minutes after the break Scott Edwards struck to give the visitors the lead.
 
In the 76th minute the hosts squared matters when Lee Palmer headed home from a Stotter assist.
 
Four minute later Stotter gave his side the lead through a well struck free kick, on full time Luke Thomas levelled matters, then deep in stoppage time Stotter struck the winner from his second free kick.

Sensational Bowman-Davies hat-trick kills Tigers’ cup dreams

Max Bowman-Davies - hat-trick hero for Neyland. Picture by Martin JonesMax Bowman Davies grabbed a sensational hat-trick to ensure Neyland gained a comfortable passage into the next round of the Senior Cup at the expense of the gritty Johnston at Glebelands.
 
Manager Gavin Rowlands’ first division Nomads had too much fire power for second division Tigers to cope with.
 
In the 17th minute The Nomads opened the scoring from a set piece cleared to Gary Hughes who delivered a cross to back post for 22-year-old Max Bowman-Davies who flicked a header back into 6-yard box for the lurking with intent Sean Hannon to power home a header.
 
A minute later and the visitors added their second of the tie, Bowman-Davies picked ball up near half way line, purposely drove towards goal and struck a delightful effort that lopped over keeper Lewis Boswell and dropped into the net.
 
The visitors were fair value for their 2-0 cushion at half time.
 
In the 56th minute the Nomads added a well taken third as a swift counter attack led to Bowman-Davies who confidently rounded Lewis to tuck the ball into an empty net.
 
In the 64th minute Bowman-Davies completed a brilliant hat-trick, as the 22-year-old fired a ferocious shot into the roof of the net which stemmed from a corner.
 
In the 89th minute substitute Liam Rees struck a sweet left foot drive for the fifth, which was set-up by Leon Barret to complete the scoring.
