St Ishmaels Cricket Dinner
St Ishmaels Cricket Club Dinner
The annual dinner for St Ishmaels C.C. was recently held at the St Ishmaels Sports & Social Club, where club chairman, Robert Cockburn, welcomed all present.
Unfortunately Mr Stanley Richards was unable to attend again this year as Andrew Palmer, 1st team captain, & Robert Cockburn, 2nd team captain, gave their résumés of the season's performances and thanked everyone for their help and support, especially club groundsmen, Mel Williams and Chris Bradshaw, in what has been a very dismal summer for cricket. Wendy Bradshaw highlighted the club's disappointment at having no junior teams but the youth gave a good account of themselves in the Ormond Youth Competitions and had been very keen, committed & successful in their involvement with the senior teams.
The following trophies were presented:
1st team captain's player of the year Peter Bradshaw
Peebles Cup – best one-off performance 1st XI Peter Bradshaw
2nd team captain's player of the year Jordan Milich
Eric Griffiths Cup – Best one-off performance 2nd XI Archie Smithies
Best all-round fielder Jonathan Pawlett
Most ducks in the season James Cockburn
Junior U15 player of the year Daniel Richards
Players and committee members recorded their thanks to everyone who has given so generously in order to help and support the cricket section throughout the season. Bouquets were presented to Pops Joseph & delivered to Mrs Pat Williams & Mrs Liz Griffiths.
The catering was expertly carried out by the Tish ladies, Sarah, Alison & Debbie, and was again thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by everyone present.
Raffle prizewinners: Henry Richards, Jonathan Pawlett, Irene Salter, Daniel Richards, Max Richards, Glyn Pawlett, Jane Devonald & Jerry Hough (The Spoons).
A very big thank you was extended to those who gave the raffle prizes, the caterers, all the ladies who provided excellent teas throughout the 2012 season and to the club's very generous sponsors.
