Cricket in Pembrokeshire was nicely rounded off for the 2012 season as the Pembroke County Cricket Club held its annual dinner at the Plas Hyfryd in Narberth, with Robert Griffiths QC as the guest speaker.

A former Johnston, Llangwm and Pembrokeshire player, Robert related stories of his cricketing life as a youngster in the county, recalling some of the real characters he remembered playing with and against, as well as talking about his administrative work with the MCC over a long period of time.

Also in attendance as guests were John Nicholas and Brian Hawkins, from Nicholas Insurance, the Pembroke CCC league sponsors, who also presented some of the trophies and awards which are traditionally handed out to league and cup winners, plus special individual awards. Other sponsors in attendance were Ali Najmi and Daniel Moseley of Lords International, plus Nick Evans of the Cricket Shop.

Brian Hawkins hands over the Division Two silverware to Ben Jones (Llanrhian).The individual awards included the George Cole Cup, which was presented to Narberth skipper Ian Hughes in recognition of his outstanding bowling and useful batting for Narberth.

Two of the talented young players were also recognised as Steffan James received the Pembroke CCC Batting award as well as collecting the Ormond Youth Cup for Whitland, whilst Harry Thomas received the Pembroke CCC Bowling award and the Ormond Youth Plate on behalf of Cresselly Cricket Club.

David Loosmore, the chairman of the Pembroke County Cricket Club, welcomed everyone and thanked them for their support, whilst Tony Scourfield, his vice-chairman, did well in his role as MC for the evening, with the whole event successfully overseen by Steve Blowes in his first season as Hon Secretary.
