Neyland stroll to another easy win

Neyland (155 for 1) beat Pembs Seniors A  (74 for 3) by 81 runs

Teenager Korey Arran - good all-round display for Neyland AAndrew Miller - More runs and wickets for Neyland ANeyland A maintained the mayhem they are causing in division one as they slammed a battling Seniors A team which never gave up trying but just couldn’t match the league leaders in batting, bowling or fielding, hard though they tried.

Neyland were already 54 without loss after only four overs and with openers Patrick Bellerby and Andrew Miller already retired – but there was no respite for the Seniors A as Sean Hannon and Korey Arran followed with excellent running between the wickets before also called back into the hutch.

But Dai Davies was also able to maintain his consistent run and the only wicket to fall was No 6 Brad McDemott-Jenkins as Nick Daley took an excellent catch of his own bowling, low down and via the roof netting.

The Seniors were unable to get anywhere near the required run rate from the outset as the bowling accuracy and fielding skills of Sean Hannon’s boys was too much, with Andrew Miller, their own ‘senior’ player, grabbed 3 for 12 and Only David Haynes (a grafting 27 not out and Nick Daley, still in great form with a hard-hitting 25 not out, added their quota as others found the pressure too much!

Neyland A Batting: Patrick Bellerby 39*, Andrew Miller 28*, Sean Hannon 27*, Korey Arran 27*, Dai Davies 22*
Pembs Seniors A Bowling:   Nick Daley 1-29, Ian Milsom 0-31, Mark Hicks 0-49, Jon Williams 0-49
Pembs Seniors Batting:  David Haynes 27*, Jon Williams 8, Nick Daley 25*, Mohammed 8*, Mark Hicks 1, Ian Milsom 0

Pembroke power to speedy success as Herbie struggle

Herbrandston (25 all out) lost to Pembroke A (27 not out) by 6 wickets

George Morgan - another teenager looking good for PembrokeKrunal Patel - another two wickets for PembrokeHerbrandston found it hard going in their match against Pembroke, from the moment they arrived and found themselves with only five players – and they were soon in dire trouble as Karl Davies and Keegan Codd departed in the first over.

Even worse was to follow as skipper Robbie Hood and young newcomer Zak Powell soon followed and they stood at a precarious 7 for 4 and only Ashley Britton at the crease in his first innings of the season – and needing all the grit he has always shown in sport to score 14 runs and help Herbie to 25 all out in six overs, his innings a straight-driven six as the highlight!

Pembroke bowlers Krunal Patel, Callum Davies and Jack Harries bowled well and their batting response was brutally swift as they reached their target in only 10 balls, surely the shortest run-chase in history – and it was teenager George Morgan who smashed 17 not out, with Gareth Long watching at the other end as the game came to an abrupt and sad end!

Herbrandston Batting: Ashly Britton 14

Pembroke Bowling: Callum Davies 1-4, Krunal Patel 2-7, George Morgan 0-10, Jack Harries 1-0
Pembroke Batting: George Morgan 17*, Gareth Long 5*

The Doves show their improvement continues

Hook (105 all out) lost to Cresselly (106 for 1) by 5 wickets

George James - looked a class act in Hook defeatLucian Thornton - showed his batting skills for CressellyThe final game of the evening was the best in terms of a competitive tussle and quality batting from both teams as Hook achieved a three-figure score thanks in the main to the class of George James - and Cresselly won from the final ball of their allotted 12 overs as they looked down and out with 18 runs still required.

But Lewis Jones and Tom Arthur kept their heads and Cresselly edged out a clearly-disappointed Hook team.

James enjoyed his two full stints at the wicket and ended up on 53 before he was run out after finding useful support from cameos by Harry Makepeace and Owen Phelps as Ollie Arthur and Lewis Jones shared four wickets and skipper Tom Arthur grabbed the other one.

Cresselly lost Rhys Barnes, run out with a single to his name, but it was to be the only Doves’ wicket to fall as ‘old timer’ Neal Williams made his usual efficient start and Lucian Thornton repaid his skipper’s faith in moving him up to No3, where he batted really well to reach the retirement deadline.

Lewis Jones also had to retire but during that final onslaught he was still there with skipper Arthur as they belted a six, a four, two threes and two singles to seal a terrific win for Cresselly and leave Hook reflecting on what might have been!

Hook Batting:  George James 53, Harry Makepeace 13, Owen Phelps 23
Cresselly Bowling: Tom Arthur 1-29, Ollie Arthur 2-26, Lewis Jones 2-19, Lucian Thornton 0-28
Cresselly Batting: Neal Williams 25*, Lucian Thornton 25*, Lewis Jones 27*, Tom Arthur 11*
Hook Bowling: Harry Makepeace 0-21, Aled Phelps 0-15, Charlie Holder 0-23.
