Pembrokeshire Cricket's 'Big Day' is here - Weather permitting
The Harrison-Allen Bowl is rightly regarded as the ‘Blue Riband’ event of local cricket and this year it is first division Neyland, who have won the magnificent trophy three times in the last five years, who take on second division runners-up Narberth, whose last appearance was in 2008, when they lost to Carew.
The game takes place, as tradition demands, at Cresselly on Saturday, starting at 12 noon, depending on the weather, but there is already some anxiety since heavy rain is forecast on the day, with a 70% chance of it falling in the vicinity – and the option being to hold it over until Sunday, although it is a similar forecast of persistent showery weather.
Be that as it may, the final is an intriguing one and over the next three days ‘PembrokeshireSport.co.uk’ will provide our usual in-depth coverage so that today, Wednesday, we have pen pictures and mini-photographs of both club’s expected squads, exactly the same for two top umpires and both smashing scorers.
Tomorrow we will have predictions from local pundits: 16 of whom we asked to predict the winner – and on Friday our resident trio of Gordon Thomas, Fraser Watson and Bill Carne will throw in their two-pennorth, so you can then make your own decision, contact us at our Face Book page and let us know who you think will win – and we’ll publish a cross-section early next week.
SO LET’S HOPE IT GOES AHEAD AND GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS!
