Llanrhian win clash of unbeaten teams

Llanrhian (81 for 3) beat Cresselly (72 all out) by 9 runs

Amanda John - more runs and wickets for talented Llanrhian all-rounderPhoenix Phillips - batted superbly for Cresselly‘The best game so far this season’ was the considered view of local pundits as Llanrhian now stand alone at the top of the table after edging home by nine runs against a Cresselly side able to field arguably its strongest team so far but falling just short in a tight tussle which showed the very best of ladies’ indoor cricket.

Carrie Slack is recognised as one of the best all-rounders in the county and she led the Llanrhian batting with 28 not out, including a boundary and seven threes, ably assisted by other key all-rounders in Ammanda John and katy Jenkins, with Abby Ladd also chipping in with runs late on as they settled on a good score to test Cresselly’s powerful batting line-up.

But Carrie and Amanda shared five wickets as batters came and went at regular intervals – and it was Phoenix Phillips who kept her side in the hunt with a special innings that contained 12 threes and a four – before she gave a return catch to Amanda with five balls left to end a fascinating contest in Llanrhian’s favour.

Llanrhian Batting: Carrie Slack 27*, Amanda John 19, Katy Jenkins 11*, Abbey Ladd 15

Llanrhian make it six out of six so far

Llanrhian (90 for 2) beat Llangwm (71 for 4) by 19 runs

Carrie Slack -again bowled and batted well for LlanrhianLlanrhian had earlier fended off a strong challenge from a Llangwm team which has been boosted by some outstanding batting by Lilly Thomas but it was the usual stars who set Llanrhian on their way to a health total as Carrie Slack had five threes, a four and a six before she retired, ably assisted again by Amanda John and Katy Jenkins, with double figures in the extras column.

Without Pam Asson, Llangwm’s batting was inevitably not so strong, with ‘Extras’ again the only other score in double figures as Lilly Thomas belted four superb straight sixes, two fours and three threes but couldn’t find the necessary support as they finished up 20 runs short of victory.

Llanrhian Batting: Carrie Slack 28*, Amanda John 23, Katy Jenkins 17, Extras 14

Llangwm Bowling:  Lilly Thomas 0-17, Zoe Brick 0-16, Daisy Brick 1-17, Jess Ainsworth 1-26

Llanrhian Bowling: Katy Jenkins 1-17, Abbey Ladd 1-16, Amanda John 0-16, Carrie Slack 0-17

Llangwm win with ease against Tish

St Ishmaels (66 for 5) lost to Llangwm (68 for 1) by 5 wickets

Pam Asson - top scored for Llangwm in her one inningsLilly Thomas - back with a bang for Llangwm, with superb batting and excellent bowlingLlangwm gained a relatively easy win over St Ishmaels, who batted first and had experienced players Linzi Picton and Rachel McGuire that they managed a reasonable score as Lilly Thomas was again the Llangwm star as she claimed two wickets for relatively few runs - and there were tight spells from Zoe and daisy Brick.

Lilly then stroked her way to the retirement score with relative ease as Pam Asson again showed her batting skills with top score as Zoe Brick also chipped in with useful runs so they were made to use up their overs but still had five wickets left in hand.

St Ishmaels Batting: Linzi Picton 15, Rachel McGuire 11,
Llangwm Bowling: Lilly Thomas 2-12, Zoe Brick 0-11, Daisy Brick 0-14,

Cresselly cruise to victory

St Ishmaels (66 for 5) lost to Cresselly (68 for 0) by 6 wickets

Linzi Picton battled hard in the Tish causeRachael McGuire - as reliable as ever for TishSt Ishmaels also found it quite hard going against a strong Cresselly team but as usual gave it their all, with skipper Linzi Picton, her daughter Lola Phillips and the reliable Rachel McGuire leading the way with the bat to set their opponents a score that was always going to be in their target range as Caitlin Lewis bowled really well for Cresselly and was well supported by Mari, Phoenix and Ffion, who grabbed the other wicket but was a little more expensive.

And that’s just how it turned out as talented teenagers Phoenix Phillips and Mari Cole, despite the efforts of Linzi and Rachel, took them close to the score needed and the game was ended with two overs still left in hand!
