Ladies Cricket - Week 9 - 15th July 2025

Division One:

Pembroke (3) 40-8 lost to Cresselly (16) 43-2 by 8 wickets

At Pembroke, who won the toss and elected to bat.

Cresselly took another big step to retaining the silverware as they made the journey to Treleet and came away with the points needed before entertaining Burton in a top-three tussle next week.

Pembroke opted to bat first but the bulk of their runs came from top batters Kim Barnes and Bobby Neale as Lucy Johnson grabbed 3 for 2 in four miserly overs and Elin Edwards gave solid support.

Chloe Jones picked up the two wickets that Cresselly lost in the six overs they needed to pass Pembroke’s lowly tally as Sophie Toy remained unbeaten and Lois Howlett-Dyer chipped in with the runs to see Cresselly ease home.

Pembroke Innings:
Kim Barnes 15, Bobbie Neale 13
Lucy Johnson 3-2,  Elin Edwards 2-14

Cresselly Innings:

now to be played on 29th July

Division Two:

Carew (6) 118-6 lost to Saundersfoot (18) 119-2 by 8 wickets

Madi Neye and Talia Ennis - taking Saundersfoot to the topAt Carew, where Saundersfoot won the toss and elected to field

Saundersfoot are top of the section table in the race for the divisional honours, plus promotion, as they took on Carew and played really well in chasing down The Lady Rooks’ decent total as Alys Silcox batted well before retiring and Jess Griffiths gave her good support against useful bowling from Nell Mackay and Hannah Mackie as the pick of The Lady Seasiders’ attack.

Alys Silcox and Lily Cole claimed a wicket apiece for the home team but Talia Evans and Madi Neye maintained their batting form before retiring – and victory gave The Lady Seasiders a 13-point advantage over St Ishmaels and 20 points head of Llangwm and Whitland as reward for their excellent run of results, before next week’s top-three clash at home to Tish will go some way to discovering the destiny of the Division Two crown for 2025!

Llangwm - still in top form

St Ishmaels (8) 104-3 lost to Llangwm (16) 105-6 by 4 wickets

Llangwm mum and daughters Mandie Davies, Zoe Brick and Rosie ThomasAt St Ishmaels, where Llangwm won the toss and elected to field.

St Ishmaels lost at home to an in-form Llangwm outfit as they were asked to bat first and although their score was a reasonable one it allowed the visitors to build their was to victory by four wickets as they bowled, batted and fielded just that little better throughout to finish with 11 balls still in hand.

Tish had their usual consistent batting from Lucy Patterson and Charlotte Couston-Miller alongside terrific support batting by Cath Orton as Rosie Thomas, Mandie Davies and Zoe Brich pouched a wicket apiece for Tish.

Then skipper Pam Asson used her batting skills to lead her team with another retirement score before Rosie Thomas and Mandie Davies were at the crease at the finish but they know they have two tough matches remaining as they take on Whitland and saundersfoot, both made even tougher because they are due to be played away from home!

St Ishmaels Innings:
Lucy Patterson 25* Charlotte Couston-Willar 25* Catherine Orton 20
Rosie Thomas 1-22 Daisy Brick 1-24 Mandie Davies 1-25

St Ishmaels - they love having their pic taken

Whitland (18) 107-4 beat Kilgetty (5) 71-6 by 33 runs

Angharad Jenkins - in top form for WhitlandAt Whitland. Kilgetty won the toss and chose to field

Whitland also maintained pressure on the teams above them with a sizeable win over  Kilgetty, who elected to bat second as Angharad Jenkins was again The Lady Borderers’ top batsman before retiring, as well as bowling really well later on.

Louise Lance and Tegan Ryan gave Angharad solid support as Leila Lewis, Lowis Hughes and Katie McGrath were the pick of the Kilgetty bowlers.

Phoebe Frearson was the only Kilgetty batter to stay long at the crease against Liz Richards, Alice Harries, Tegan Ryan and especially Angharad Jenkins bowled well to see Whitland to victory and have two home games with Llangwm and Carew to come.

Whitland Innings
