Ladies Cricket - Week 5 - 17th June 2025

Ladies’ Cricket - The Season’s half-way mark!

Division One:

Cresselly 130 for 4 (19) beat Burton (92 for 78 (6) by 39 runs

Umpires: Dave Cleverly & Dan Ridge
Scorers: Lewis Howlett-Dyer & Elaine Scale

Cresselly were invited to bat first at Oatfield Park and were quickly amongst the runs against old rivals Burton in this top-three clash, and scored runs aplenty, thanks to the in-form Ffion Ashman, Zoe Minnett and Eleri Williams, who all reached the retirement target, despite the bowling of Rhiannon Morgan and Chloe Lewis.

Finola Scale and Becky Barton led the Burton batting response but wickets fell at regular intervals against tight spells from Ms Ashman and the other Cresselly bowlers. So Cresselly were good value for victory in this vital battle for points at the top of the table as they maintain their unbeaten record.

Cresselly Innings: Ffion Ashman 27*, Zoe Minnett 25*, Eleri Williams 27*
Chloe Lewis 2-16, Rhiannon Morgan 1-13
Burton Innings: Finola Scale 25*, Becca Barton 17
Ffion Ashman 2-9

Pembroke Dock 65 all out (4) lost to Hook 67 for 2 (18) by 8 wickets

Umpires:   Nick Daley & Simon Richards Pembroke Dock batted first but were soon under pressure from a far more experienced Hook bowling attack as only Katie Griffiths ever stayed long against Tia Rees, Maisy Davies, Bethan Chapman and Kacey Arran.
Then Kacey showed her all-round cricket skills as she retired unbeaten and had support from Jemma Phillips as only Poppy Price picked up wickets for The Dock.

Pembroke Dock Innings: Katie Griffiths 15, Abby Price 12
Tia Rees 5-7, Maisy Davies 2-7, Bethan Chapman 2-11, Kacey Arran 1-5
Hook Innings:  Kacey Arran 25*, Jemma Phillips 2-7
Poppy Price 2-12

Haverfordwest Ladies

Haverfordwest 107 for 5 (19) beat Pembroke 80 for 8 (6) by 27 runs

Umpires: Jason Phillips & Steve Mitchell
Scorer: Leanne Panton

Haverfordwest were another team to be asked to bat first by opponents Pembroke on The Racecourse and were able to claim victory as they built a solid tally and then bowled well and were good in the field.
Megan Davies and Nia Williams led The Town main run-getters against accurate bowling from Summer Russant and Jamie Moseley - before Pembroke responded with steady knocks by Jamie Moseley and Kim Barnes.
But no-one was able to go on to a big score against Summer Smith, Kayleigh Vaughan and Millie Pullin and as a result Haverfordwest eased home to claim their first win of the season and leave Pembroke still searching for theirs.

Haverfordwest Innings: Megan Davies 25*, Nia Williams 25*
Summer Russant 2-29
Pembroke Innings: Kim Barnes 12*, Jamie Moseley 11
Summer Smith 3-8, Kayleigh Vaughan 1-15, Millie Pullin 1-15

Division Two:

Saundersfoot Ladies - top of Division Two

St Ishmaels 101 all out (8) lost to Saundersfoot 102 for 6 (18) by 4 wickets

Umpires: Johnny Lewis & Chris Parker
Scorers: Clarissa Lewis & Paul Mansbridge

After being invited to bat first, Tish managed a three-figure score but it wasn’t quite enough in an exciting contest where Saundersfoot kept their cool to ease home with just three balls left.

Cath Orton, Lucy Patterson and Tracy Chandra were the man in batters for St Ishmaels as Anya Beynon was the Seasiders’ strike bowler - but then the consistent Katy Joseph, Madi Neye and Hannah Mackay batted really well for Saundersfoot in response.

Lola Phillips bowled strongly for Tish but The Seasiders kept plugging away and their reward was a third win from four starts and top place in the section table.

St Ishmaels Innings: Cath Orton 25*, Lucy Patterson 25*, Tracy Chandra 20
Anya Beynon 3-18
Saundersfoot Innings: Katy Joseph 26*, Madi Neye 24, Hannah Mackay 17
Lola Phillips 2-15

Carew Ladies

Kilgetty 84 for 5 (5) lost to Carew 85 for 4 (16) by 6 wickets

Umpires: Owen Hughes & Rob Hicks
Scorer: Chloe Bland

Carew hopes of a possible third position in the table were realised as they beat their counterparts from Kilgetty in a competitive tussle at Carew where the home side chose to field first and restricted their opponents as Kirstie Lewis was the pick of their bowlers, supported by Freya Hicks and Nia Simes as Phoebe Frearson was the best of the Kilgetty batters.
Their fears that they hadn’t scored quite enough were soon realised as Kate Chandler-Hall stroked her way to retirement, helped by Alys Silcox and Kristin Jordan, despite the bowling efforts of Lowis Hughes, Libby Evans and Daisy Bird.

Kilgetty Innings: Phoebe Frearson 20*,
Kirsty Lewis 3-14, Freya Hicks 1-14, Nia Simes 1-13
Carew Innings: Kate Chandler-Hall 26*, Alys Silcox 18*, Kristin Jordan 16*
Lowis Hughes 1-9, Libby Evans 1-12, Daisy Bland 1-15

Whitland Ladies - who beat Llangwm

Whitland 100 for 5 (20) beat Llangwm 89 all out (6) by 11 runs

Umpires: Manny Davies & Toby Asson
Scorer: Sara Jeffrey

Ruby Arnold - Runs and wickets for LlangwmMaximum points at Pill Parks allowed Whitland to move into second place as they were asked to bat first and resisted a strong challenge from Llangwm to leave the homesters disappointed by missing out by such a narrow margin in a great game.

Mari Kirk and Amy Morgan led The Borderettes to their three-figure score but Ruby Arnold, Rosie Thomas, Pam Asson and Daisy Brick stopped big increases in the run rate.

Ruby Arnold also batted well to complete a good performance in cahoots with Nina Simpkins and Pam Asson but Liz Richards grabbed four wickets for Whitland to round off a very good performance alongside Alice Harries, Sally Windsor, Amy Morgan and Zoe Morris.

Whitland Innings: Mari Kirk 25*, Amy Morgan 14
Ruby Arnold 2-22, Rosie Thomas 1-9, Pam Asson 1-9, Daisy Brick 1-22
Llangwm Innings: Ruby Arnold 20, Nina Simpkin 19, Pam Asson 10
Liz Richards 4-15, Alice Harries 2-15, Sally Windsor 1-8, Amy Morgan 1-14, Zoe Morris 1-15
