Hook Ladies decided to bat first against old rivals Cresselly, who had already secured the league silverware, and suffered an early set-back when one of their key run-makers in Jemma Phillips departed early to Meg Arthur – but a solid partnership of 65 by Kate Farr and Kacey Arran, who was eventually out for 30, when she was lbw to Lauren Davies, having stroked three boundaries.
Hook captain Sam Rossiter didn’t last long but Emilia Wilson kept Kate company until the opener had reached 43 and looked assured of a deserved half century until she was run out, having hit four fours in her 43.
Emilia finished on 9 not out as Maisy Davies rattled up two boundaries in her double-figure score before she was run out in the inevitable late chase for runs as Meg, Eleri Williams and Lucy Johnson tried hard to restrict the runs.
Maisy makes sure Cresselly don’t build a big score

Cresselly needed a good batting performance to beat that target but they lost Meg and Lucy in single figures as Emilia removed the latter then Maisy stepped in to cause mayhem as she removed Meg and Zoe Minnett in her first over, assisted by good catches by Beth Chapman and Kate.
But Jess Gibby came in and rapped five fours as she sped to 33 but became another victim for Maisy – who finished with 4 for 29 as she clean-bowled the dangerous Ffion Ashman cheaply.
Then Caitlin Lewis was unbeaten on 13 at the close of the 20 overs as they came close to three figures, thanks to a contribution of 16 in the ‘extras’ column so that Hook’s lead on nine runs set up a tantalising second innings each after tea.
Hook suffer early shocks as Cresselly bounce back

But Hooks hope of a big score was soon in tatters as top scorer Kate departed for a duck and Jemma soon followed for only a single, leaving their team looking at a scoreboard which showed 3 for 2 – which soon became 17 for 3 as Sam again came and went for very few runs as Meg and Caitlin bowled well in tandem.
But again, Kacey came to their rescue with an innings of class and determination as she batted until the end of the innings for her 37 not out (three fours and a number of twos as proof of her excellent running between the wickets.
Experienced campaigners Emilia (three fours in her 15) and Maisy (13) gave vital support and a final tally of 78 for 5 set Cresselly the challenge of scoring 88 for victory.
Hook bowlers cause mayhem, backed up by terrific fielding
They needed a good start but Emilia raced in to shift both Lucy (0) and Jess (3) in double-quick time - and Jemma quickly followed by with the wicket of Zoe (3) – with Meg holding the fort well until she was bowled by Maisy for 22, including a six and four.
Ffion (17) gave hope of a Cresselly resurgence, but she fell to Jemma Phillips and the innings fell apart at the seams as especially Emilia and then Tia, Maisy, Jemma, Kacey and Elin Miller bowled really well.
And finally . . .

So Cresselly were dismissed for 65 runs, leaving Hook as victors by 22 runs, and skipper Sam Rossiter received to fine trophy from Kath Adams, whose family sponsor the competition in memory of her father Clive, who was a stalwart member of Stackpole and the MCCC, both of which were dear to his heart.
Burton players Rhiannon Morgan chose the ‘Player of the Match’ and few would
argue[A1] with their choice of Kacey Arran, who batted superbly in both Hook innings as other very capable run-makers fell cheaply around her.
Emilia Wilson and Maisy Davies caught the eye with their bowling exploits for Hook, as well as scoring supportive runs – and Jess Gibby and Meg Arthur played well for Cresselly – but this was Kacey’s day – and Hook’s as well!
