Game One: Cresselly v Neyland A

 Indoor Cricket League Week Two
Cresselly's season started slowly against Neyland as key run getter Brad McDermott-Jenkins arrived late and so didn't bat as his side was restricted to a pedestrian 55 for 3 in their ten overs.

It was never going to be enough against Neyland's powerful batting line-up and it only took them five overs to reach their target.

Matthew Webb top scored with 19 not out alongside Harry Thomas (12 not out) as Johnnie Palmer and Tom Arthur both managed nine runs but there were 16 dot balls - far too many in indoor cricket!

Henry Durrant (15) and Sean Hannon (16 not out) gave Neyland a solid start and a speedy 17 from Nick Koomen eased Neyland towards their target - and a comfortable win in only five overs from an experienced team which knows its way around in indoor cricket!

Game Two - Haverfordwest A v Cresselly

Haverfordwest showed just why they are the current county champions as they batted first against Cresselly and after limping to 35 for 3 had a superb stand of 80 by Danny Potter and Nigel Delaney before both were run out in the final over, looking at adding to their already-huge scoreIndoor Cricket League Week Two.

Delaney was first out of the pair, having scored ten threes and two fours that showed all that was good in the indoor game, giving Potter the strike at every opportunity.

And skipper Potter repaid that faith with a belligerent 70 that included three sixes, five fours, eight threes and five twos before he was run out from the last ball of the final over.

Cresselly lost the key wickets of Mike Shaw and Harry Thomas by the time they had reached double figures before Johnny Palmer atoned somewhat for his wayward bowling with a powerfully-struck 27 that contained two sixes and two fours but then he had to retire on 27 runs – and limbered up in hope of a return to the crease on an exercise bike!

Matthew Webb was again unbeaten with 16 runs for Cresselly and Brad McDermott-Jenkins managed double figures as Cresselly were forced to settle on 76 for 3 wicket, and all the Haverfordwest players supported keeper Huw Scriven in the field.

Game Three - Neyland A v Haverfordwest A

After skipper Sean Hannon had elected to bat first his opening pair of Nathan banner and Nick Koomen saw them race past 50 after only five overs before both had to retire on 25. It was the signal for Haverfordwest to counter-attack as Patrick Bellerby and Patrick Hannon were run out for only four runs each.

But Henry Durrant slammed a quick-fire 25 that contained seven threes and a four but when Sean Hannon was run out for only six runs the three returning batsman all departed quickly as Koomen was bowled by Holliday for 25, as was Durrant next ball for the same score – and Banner departed last ball for top score of 34 as Neyland ended up on 109 all out, a challenging total but not an unbeatable one.

Haverfordwest lost Ben Field when he’d scored 10 runs but was run out as Holliday ignored the call for a quick run – but Holliday made amends before retiring on 27, including one big six.

Delaney again showed why he is a key player for The Town before he also retired and with three overs remaining they needed only 20 runs and seemed in the driving seat.

But Neyland are bonny fighters and they had Potter, Scriven and Williams all run out – and Holliday returned to fall to the catch of the season by Koomen, fielding in close and showing terrific reactions.

So Delaney was left on his own, needing seven runs off as many balls and a Town win still seemed a distinct possibility until Delaney was adjudged lbw from Banner’s final delivery, with a full over from Henry Durrant not used.
