Indoor Cricket - Second Division - 22nd October 2025
Pembrokeshire Indoor Cricket League:
Haverfordwest and Carew lead the early race in Division Two
Umpires: Ian Milsom & Will Ridge.
A second round of division two matches at the Neyland Community Hub saw Haverfordwest Lightning and Carew atop the early table with two wins, whilst The Pembs Seniors an Herbrandston have one apiece.
Match One: Johnson stars as Lightning strikes
Lawrenny (74 for 5) lost to Haverfordwest (75 for 3)

Lawrenny failed to fire on all cylinders as their new indoor season got off to a disappointing start where their powerful batting line-up failed to fire and could only produce 74 for 5 as Haverfordwest Lightning bowled and fielded well when Lawrenny recovered to push them all the way at the finish.
Doug Johnson led The Lightning bowling with 2 for 10 as he removed Finley Lewis cheaply and then completed a Lewis family double by shifting Oscar (14) – and Will Allen (14) was next to go, run out before other key run-makers Rhys Eynon and Ryan Morton could only muster 7 runs between them.
Luckily, last man Alfie Buckle belted a rapid-fire 21 not out and there were 14 extras in a final tally that we well within The Lightning’s reach.
But Jack Peters went early to Finley Lewis but Doug Johnston (20) and skipper Johnny White (14) settled things down.
Dylan Lee chipped in with 12 before teenager Brandon Dewstowe and keeper Jason Stobbs saw their side home with seven balls and three wickets still in hand.
Match Two: Dillon drives Herbie to last-ditch win
Neyland (92 for 5) lost to Herbrandston (93 for 5)

Dillon Lewis was the toast of his Herbrandston team mates as he belied his last-man status by succeeding in adding the 11 runs needed from the final over against Neyland B, who had looked favourites until then after batting first and reaching a healthy total thanks to excellent batting by Mike Tennick, who showed there is life in the old dog with a hard-hitting 41 not out.
Dylan James (19) gave good support but was run out – as were others so that only 19 from ‘Mr Extras’ saw Neyland at least set a challenging target as Dillon Lewis bowled really well with 1 for 7 from his two overs.
Herbie started well via Charlie Malloy (14) and Morgan Britton (16) but both fell to Lewis Page’s accurate stuff before Jack Badham (16) and Johnny Lewis (13) chipped in with runs.
But there were still runs needed at the finish but Dillon Lewis played with a calmness beyond his years and two leg byes off the final ball saw Herbie gain their first win of their campaign!
Match Three: Noah leads Rooks to narrow win
Carew (97 for 4) beat St Ishmaels (93 for 4)

Carew made it two wins in two indoor league games as they batted first against St Ishmaels and just about held on for victory despite a splendid innings of 45 not out from Wales Seniors all-rounder Stuart Carpenter that was made from only 28 balls and contained four sixes.
The Rooks started really well through Noah Davies (34 not out in 20 deliveries) and Corey Hall (run out for 23 in 14 balls) which created mayhem, and then twin brother Ethan Hall hit 18 before he suffered the same fate.
Morgan Grieve marked his debut with 14 before he also took a chance too many and Carew ended up just three runs short of a century to lay down the challenge.
Tish started badly in comparison as young hitter Cayden Maguire was joined by another Welsh Senior in Kevin Bowen came and went quickly, although Carpenter had already raced into the retirement score.
Lenny Rees and Nathan Phillips failed to make an impact and it was left to another veteran in Andrew Williams to join carpenter and he finished on 20 not out and with 18 extras the game ended in a tight finish – but The Rooks showed real composure to end up as winners by 4 runs when talented teenager Rhys Lewis bowled the final over and although he was belted for two sixes by Carpenter he only conceded a single from the other four balls to play a major part in Carew’s victory!
