Great Double for The Dock B – and The Veterans also gain a win!

Match One

Hundleton (58 for 6) lost to Pembroke Dock B (59 for 2)

Nick Daley - runs and wickets for Pembroke DockPeter Kingdom - also played well for The DockHundleton batted first against Pembroke Dock B and found it hard going against some vey tight bowling and fielding by experienced opposition as they were shot out for only 58 in 8.3 overs – and The Dock overcame a terrible start to win with 19 balls still to spare.
David Lockyer led the Hundleton batting with 19 as only Stuart McNiffe really supported with 15 as Nick Daley took 3 for 6 from only nine deliveries as he bowled opener Ben Adams (8) in his first over and then clean bowled McNiffe and Stuart Moseley in the space of three balls, with Paul Fox and Jonathan Williams departing cheaply after Jake Davies shifted Lockyer in his 1 for 1 over.
Bowyn Clarke also bowled well and the bulk of Hundleton’s runs came from four overs shared by Peter Kingdom and Luke Murray.
Yet The Dock response started disastrously as Clarke (1) and Luke Murray (0) were run out in the space of three deliveries but then Nick Daley and Peter Kingdom used their experience to take their team to victory, Daley retiring on 25 and Kingdom finishing matters with 23 not out as Adam Phillips contributed a late single to ease The Dock home.

Match Two

Pembroke Dock B (114 for 2) beat Pembs Veterans (89 for 5)

Luke Murray - more runs for The DockKevin Bowen - looked good for the Pembs VeteransPembroke Dock B completed a successful morning since they took on Pembs Veterans and won comfortably as they achieved a decent score of 114 for 2 and then restricted the old timers to 89 for 5.
The Dock showed their batting strength as only Jake Davies was removed from their top four (caught by Leighton O’Connor off Filgi Varghese for 17), whilst Luke Murray (28), Nick Daley (27) and Peter Kingdom (26) all batted well before retiring.
The wait was too much for Adam Phillips as he departed for a duck, caught by David Haynes off Kevin Bowen, but Niall Brunton contributed an unbeaten 13 as The Dock belted 5 fours and 2 sixes after building well to 61 in five overs - and didn’t lose too much momentum afterwards to set the Vets quite a challenge.
And the old hands started steadily via Stuart Carpenter (20) and Leighton O’Connor (16) but Niall Brunton grabbed 2 for 21 after seeing his ball flying to the back wall for a maximum by Carpenter; also shifting Filgi Varghese for 7 runs as he was trapped lbw.
As The Dock intensified the pressure in the field The Vets could only muster 48 at the half way stage and were never able to raise the tempo as Jake Davies took 1 for 14 and Peter Kingdom conceded only 14 runs in his two overs.
There was a wicket apiece for Daley and Murray as Kevin Bowen batted well for his 25 not out and David Haynes chipped in with 11 – but The Vets were still 25 runs behind when time was called on their innings!

Filgi Varghese - runs and a wicket as The Veterans beat HundletonIan Milsom - miserly bowling spell for The VeteransPembs Veterans bounced back from their earlier defeat to comfortably account for Hundleton on the back of an all-round team performance that saw them achieve three figures to set a target for the village side which they were unable to achieve and see them 36 runs adrift at the finish.
Andrew Williams (12) and his namesake Neal (6) opened the batting for The Veterans; the former bowled by Paul Fox and the latter run out going for a risky single.
But then Stuart Carpenter  (27) and Filgi Varghese (25)  gained control before Ian Milsom (13 not out) and Mark Hicks (run out in the late search for runs on 17) also batted well, whilst Jonathan Williams was the pick of the Hundleton bowling, with only 14 runs conceded in his two overs.
The first four Hundleton batsmen all managed double figures but got out at key times, with Adams run out for 13, Fox (10) bowled by Andrew Williams, Lockyer well caught by Varghese off Carpenter with top score of 18 to his name and Jonathan Williams (12), not as quick as he used to be and run out for 12.
Ben Williams and McNiffe were unable to make an impression as Ian Milsom (0 for 5), Filgi Varghese (1 for 6) and Stuart Carpenter (1 for 5) conceded just 15 runs in their 5.4 overs after Andrew Williams (1 for 20) and Mark Hicks (0 for 31) conceded the bulk of the runs.
