Match No 1:

Neyland B (103 for 5) lost to Llanrhian (104 for 3)

Steve Murray - played well for Neyland BNeyland B could only muster five players to take on Llanrhian and made a terrible start as Karl Davies bowled Phil Keen and trapped Joe Campodonic lbw in his first over for ducks – and Daf Williams bowled Tom Pritchard for two runs to leave them in dire straits at 5 for 3 but did really well to recover as Llanrhian bowled well and fielded even better.

George Evans and Steve Murray joined forces and after being restricted to only 34 runs at the half way stage accelerated by some good running between the wickets and the ability to punish the odd poor delivery.

As a result, 69 runs came from their second five overs and both reached 42 as Llanrhian also conceded 17 extras, with Evans finally getting caught by keeper Iwan James off Llion Williams and Murray ending undefeated on the same score.

The Llanrhian innings began in similar fashion as skipper Nigel Delaney, one of the bestr batters in the competition, was caught by Murray off Pritchard without scoring – and after four overs were only on 36, but with Daf Williams and Jack Jones beginning to build the momentum before retiring.

Iwan James also batted sensibly for his undefeated 18 as Karl Davies belted 21 before Phil Keen trapped him lbw and shifted Kieran Arran for a duck by the same method.

Neyland kept plugging away and were still in with a shout as Llanrhian still needed 14 runs from their final over but Jack Jones took charge and stood at the crease for the final delivery with three runs needed – and casually stroked the winning runs to confirm his side as deserved runners-up in the competition.

Match Two:

Narberth (106 for 5) lost to Pembroke Dock A (107 for 3)

Jordan Howell - 51 not out for NarberthPembroke Dock A eased through to victory over Narberth in a game played in a competitive but sportsmanlike manner, with The Dock successfully chasing down a score of 107 as George Smith again led the way with the bat after earlier taking two wickets that confirmed him as joint top wicket-taker in the division.

Lewis Hough and skipper Jordan Howell scored 26 for Narberth before retiring after Wil Nicholas (3) had been bowled by Rhys Daley – and Kyle Williams and Rhodri Dyer were dismissed for ducks after Loui Davies (17) gave Smith a return catch.

But Howell batted really well in the later stage of the innings to finish on 51 not out as 56 runs came in double-quick time and a finally tally of 106 for 5 at least set a challenge for The Dock boys.

The Dock made a steady start via Daley (11) and Archie Hillier-Wood (14) before Smith completed a good performance with an undefeated 32, with support from Grimwood (23 not out) and Billy Wood (13 not out).

There was a haul of 14 extras to boost The Dock’s total and they scored 16 runs in their final over to take the spoils after Narberth had pushed them all the way.

Match Three:

Haverfordwest (91 for 4) lost to Neyland A (92 for 3)

Neyland A ended their season as they have with all their other matches in this undefeated campaign after Haverfordwest A batted first and reached 91 for 4 but were unable to stop Sean Hannon collecting the silverware as he has done for the past five years on behalf of his Neyland squad.

Clive Tucker opened for The Town and scored 9 runs before he was well caught by Kieran Arran off his own bowling – and then Johnny White scored 31 not out, as did skipper Dai Davies to earn the award as the top run getter in the competition.

But the rest of The Town’s batting was unable to maintain the momentum as Neyland turned the screw in the field and Haverfordwest were unable to reach three figures.

It seemed a comfortable chase for Neyland but they could only muster a single from Clive Tucker’s first over before Patrick Bellerby (11) and Ross Hardy (24) opened their innings steadily.

Nick Koomen showed why he is second in the list of top scorers with an undefeated 27 – but Jack John departed quickly and they were still only on 47 at the half-way stage.

Sean Hannon and Kieran Arran kept their heads though and the champions were assisted by 14 extras and they still had an over in hand – and three wickets – as they maintained their 100 per cent record throughout the competition.
