Cricket Round Up - 14th June 2025
Division One:
Malloy makes it easy for Herbie
Herbrandston (58 for 3) beat Llangwm (55 all out) by seven wickets
Charlie Malloy has showed what a potent force he can be for Herbie with the bat but against Llangwm he showed his bowling capabilities too as his superb seven-wicket haul broke the back of the visitors’ innings and left his side with a low score to chase where they gave some batting experience to Morgan Britton (13) and Dillon Lewis (16 not out).
Skipper Robbie Hood was the perfect foil for Malloy’s pace as his canny slower stuff gave him figures of 3 for 28 and then Malloy blasted his way to 7 foe 27 as they were assisted by good catching, including an early one by Atticus n at mid-off and another good effort from keeper Jack Nicholas, so that not one Llangwm batsman was able to manage double figures as ‘Mr Extras’ was top scorer with nine runs.
Llangwm skipper Ollie Davies (1 for 6) and Chris Inward (2 for 20) took wickets for their team but Tish reached their target in only 16 overs.
Cresselly cruise to victory against depleted Carew
Cresselly (286 for 9) beat Carew (140 all out) by 146 runs
Carew were always likely to struggle in this table-topping clash because they had so many players away at a function but they used it as a chance to give a taste of first-division some young players as they lost their first game of the season and near neighbours Cresselly made the mile-long rip home with their 100 record still intact.
An unusual feature of a game between such top-quality teams was the amazing number of ‘extras; amounting to 102 as Carew gifted their opponents with 62, mainly wides; before Cresselly almost returned the favour by conceding 40, again mostly wides!
Tom Murphy top-scored for Cresselly, assisted by Simon Cole (68), Neilson Cole (20 not out) and ‘Mr Extras as Tim Hicks (3 for 60) and Iori Hicks (3 for 40) were the main Rooks’ bowlers.
Tim Hicks (30) then topped the batting as they slumped to 14 for 2 as two early ducks to Charlie Arthur and then his younger brother Ollie grabbed 3 for 23 and Tom Arthur led by example again with 5 for 28.
Easy-going for Neyland at The Racecourse
Haverfordwest (94 all out) lost to Neyland (95 for 2) by 8 wickets
Haverfordwest slipped into the bottom two after this comprehensive home defeat against Neyland as they batted first and could only muster 94 as Rhys Sewell top-scored with 23 before he was unluckily run out and opener David Haynes tried hard to anchor the innings as he could only manage 10 in 70 balls but watched wickets aplenty fall at the other end as Jack John, Andrew Miller and Ross Hardy all grabbed two wickets and a special mention for Sam Laugharne, who stepped up to take 3 for 6 on a rare first-team appearance – so well done Sam!
Then Paul Murray and Patrick Bellerby got Neyland off to a steady start before Dai Davies (22 not out) and Ross Hardy (23 not out)eased them home to victory in 21 overs.
Burton spring a Seasiders’ surprise
Burton (172 all out) beat Saundersfoot (97 all out) by 75 runs
Burton played really well to spring a surprise defeat on at Oatfield Park as they batted well to score 172 against high-flying Saundersfoot before being all out with three balls left – and then dismissing The Seasiders for 75 runs to climb out of the bottom two in the section table and push their opponents out of the top three.
The Burton tally came from the combined efforts of six players who made cameos against Saundersfoot’s varied attack in which Nick Cope (3 for 24) and Jon Mansbridge (3 for 51) were the key bowlers.
But then Morgan Scale (4 for 18), Luke Hayman (3 for 25) and Jack Davies (3 for 32) got amongst the strong Seasiders’ batting line-up and again there were a few good starts but no-one could build an innings of substance as Burton showed they have the talent to stay in the top echelon, if they continue to play like this!
Lawrenny move into the top five as Whitland stay in the bottom three
Lawrenny (132 for 7) beat Whitland (129 all out) by 3 wickets
Whitland and Lawrenny produced a tough tussle before the latter team held on to ease through by three wickets and send them into the top half of the table, whilst Whitland are still in the danger zone at the other end.
Only Gethin Scourfield ever stayed long for Whitland as he just beat ‘Mr Extras’ for the top scorer accolade against Jamie Lewis (3 for 22) and Oscar Lewis (3 for 24) after veteran pace man Rob Williams had given them a good start with 2 for 11 in eight miserly overs.
However, none of the early Lawrenny batsmen ever looked settled against Scott Newton (2 for 24), Geraint Jones (3 for 57) and Jonathan Thomas (2 for 13) until Joe Kidney (27 not out) and Will Allen joined the fray later on and helped Lawrenny pick up their fourth win in eight starts.

Second Division Short Runs:
NARBERTH stay top of the table after a first defeat after seven wins on the trop and it was visitors
LLECHRYD who claimed the shock win and d up to sixth place as their reward after John Curran’s 35 helped them to 146 for 8 as Ryan Williams maintained his good form for Narberth with 4 for 24. Then Rhodri Dyer (59) batted well for Narberth but Jaap Harries (4 for 22) and Graham Keen (3 for 22) were the key bowlers for Llechryd as they won by 35 runs after the home side could only muster 111 all out.
ST ISHMAELS stand in second spot after scoring a healthy 216 for 5 and then shooting out
CRESSELLY 2NDS for only 62 runs to win by a massive 154 runs. Phil Llewelyn (54), Peter Bradshaw (32) and Jon Pawlett (49) as Josh Lewis and Iori Thomas claimed two wickets apiece for a depleted Doves’ team. Then canny slow left-arm bowler Andrew Pawlett grabbed 4 for 19 and there were two wickets each for Brennan Devonald alongside the father and son duo of Steve and Thomas Williams as Cresselly struggled from the outset against this varied bowing attack.
HOOK were easy winners in this local derby against
JOHNSTON which left the home side in fourth place and have their neighbours one place below them after Hook had batted first and reached 150 all out before limiting the Glebelands Gang to a disappointing 86 all out. Tom Blaxland (44) made a rare appearance for the home side as Keegan Codd (3 for 38) again led the Johnston bowling as there were two wickets each from Stephen-James Mills and Nick Davies. Codd also top-scored but Hook had useful bowling by Aled Phelps (4 for 10), Brennan Martin and Callum James to give Jook a 64-run win
PEMBROKE captain Jack Harries maintained his good batting form with 102 against
CAREW 2NDS, his second century this season, with Ceri Brace (62) providing support en route to 245 for 7, with Jac Scourfield (3 for 33) as the top Rooks’ bowler. Then Carew were reduced to the rubble of 49 all out after Nick Scourfield had got them off to a quick start in the first innings but then Billy Wood (5 for 17) and Andrew Price (5 for 13) caused so much havoc that no other Pembroke bowler was needed!
Congratulations are due to
LLANRHIAN as they battling qualities were rewarded when they beat
BURTON 2NDS for their first success of the season and in doing so leap-frogged their opponents at the foot of the table.
Daf Williams (5 for 21) led the Llanrhian bowling attack, assisted by Jack Jones and Llion Williams, with two wickets each, and Joe John (44) was the only Burton batsman to stay long, scoring over half their runs, before they were dismissed for 86 runs.
Jack Bevan claimed two wickets when Llanrhian batted but Tom Clarke (38) and Russell Watkins (27) made sure that there were few alarms as the home side eased home by six wickets.
