2025 Ormond Youth Cup - Latest Round-Up
Griff guides Cresselly with magnificent big hitting
Cresselly (229 for 5) beat Whitland (76 all out) by Whitland 153 runs

Cresselly Youth have a significant number of talented young players who are already doing well in senior cricket, and this was amply demonstrated when they took on their rivals from Whitland, who gave total commitment to the cause but had little answer at their opponents batted first and sped to a mighty 229 for 5.
Cresselly had cameos from Ollie Arthur (13) and Tyler James (13 not out) but Lewis Mason slammed boundaries galore in his unbeaten 59. And Griff Jenkins caused total mayhem when he came in at No 4 and scored a massive 119 in only 45 deliveries.
He still has another two years in the youth competition and included in his spell at the crease were 8 fours and 10 sixes, although he would be the first to admit that he was dropped on a couple of occasions as Jack Evans (3 for 20),) and Rhys Davies were the Whitland wicket-takers.
Tomas Jones (21) topped the Young Borderers’ batting, with 11 not out late on from Harri Owens but Lewis Mason (2 for 15), Ethan Lewis (2 for 10), Lucian Thornton (1 for 6) and Oli Rowlands (1 for 1) took the wickets for Cresselly en route to their big win.
Whitland (67 for 7) lost to Haverfordwest (68 for 3) by 7 wickets

Haverfordwest Youth took on their counterparts from Whitland at The Racecourse and picked up this seven-wicket success in their opening match of the Ormond Youth Cup programme.
Whitland batted first and had cameos from Rhys Jones (24) and Jack Evans (16) but were never able to raise the run-rate significantly, so they had to settle for a disappointing total as Fin Atyeo (2 for 12) and George Twigg (3 for 8) were the pick of The Town bowlers.
When Haverfordwest batted they faced accurate bowling from Rhys Jones (1 for 18) but Harvey Thomas (16) and Dylan Lee (16 not out) saw them home with overs and wickets aplenty to spare.
Haverfordwest (98 all out) beat Kilgetty (92 for 5) by six runs
There was a tight finish in the match between Haverfordwest and Kilgetty, where The Town were dismissed for 98 and Kilgetty were always in with a shout of victory but in the final analysis lost their way a little at key moments and fell seven runs short of victory.
Will Davies (15) and Ryan Dewstowe (15 not out) are 13-year-olds and added 30 runs late on, but Haverfordwest also benefitted from 42 extras, mainly wides, as Jack Cole (2-11) and Oliver Badham (3 for 9) were the pick of the Kilgetty bowlers.
Cole then looked really good with the bat as he reached 45 and Teddy Griffiths chipped in with 13 but Brandon Dewstowe (2 for 8), Freddie Goodridge (1 for 11), Fin Atyeo (2-11) and Dillon Lewis (1 for 11) managed to ease their team home - but it was mighty close!
Pembroke (89 all out) lost to Carew/Lawrenny (91 for 1) by 9 wickets
Pembroke chose to bat first but tight bowling from Oscar Lewis (3 for 13) and Madoc Evans (3 for 18) meant they could never really get up a head of steam, despite the batting efforts of George Morgan (31) and Oliver Donohoe (23 not out).
Donohoe (1 for 14) also grabbed the only Carew/Cresselly wicket to fall but Carter Haywood 45 not out) and Logan Hall (28) made sure that their team reached their target in only 11 overs to move into the semi-finals.
