Cricket - 2021 Division 2 batting statistics
Toby stands atop the cricket charts
As usual after the end of another busy cricket season we follow up our look at the statistics for the top echelon with the same close study as we put the second division under the microscope thanks to the yeoman efforts of Paul and Janice Webb, with the latter turning no stone unturned to produce fascinating figures for other cricketing ‘anoraks’ like all of us to enjoy!

In the batting it was Toby Hayman (Burton) who led the way, both in terms of most wickets and best average, other than a remarkable appearance in 15
th position by Steve Inward (Llangwm), who was only able to play in four games, was not out in three of them and amassed an amazing total of 342 runs to give him that amazing total as his average.
In second spot was Pembroke Dock’s opening bat Jake Davies, who can be relied upon to score quickly, and he joined Toby in scoring two centuries, whilst Peter McGilloway (Lamphey) came third and joined David Blackwell (who became 11
th) to be the most productive pairing in the section.

Big-hitting batsmen
Jonathan Rogers (Pembroke) came fourth and just missed out on the virtual awards because he was 18 runs away from a top three place despite batting four fewer times – but had the honour of hitting the top score with 152 runs.
Just behind was Richard Cope (Kilgetty) with 150 not out and team mate Toby Poole (145), and the most successful team, surprisingly, because they finished seventh, was Pembroke, with four batsmen in the top 12!
Behind them, with three apiece in the top 20, were Burton and Pembroke Dock, whilst comfortable section winners Llangwm only had two.
Despite Cope and Poole’s heroics in scoring 739 runs between them, Kilgetty were relegated alongside Haverfordwest 2nds, who joined Hook in having no batsmen in the top 20
despite The Town team getting relegated.
In total there were 13 centuries in the campaign and 48 half centuries as plenty of runs were scored and there were some amazing performances.
