Llangwm draw at Llechryd but take the silverware

Llechryd (159 for 9) drew with Llangwm (198 all out)

Umpires: Trefor Evans & Huw Davies

Llechryd’s last pair managed to hold out for a draw against Llangwm to keep their hopes of promotion alive but there was more than ample compensation for Ollie Davies’s team because they are now assured of receiving the section silverware and making a speedy return to the top echelon.

Put in to bat first, Llangwm’s healthy total of 198 all out owed much to a boundary-laden 67 by James Venables, ably assisted by Will Beresford (26), Huw Brock (21) and Luke Brock (21) against the bowling of Peter Betterly (3 for 20) and James Betterly (3 for 39).

Steve Smith led the Llechryd riposte with 49 runs alongside Michael Carter (35) and James Betterly (20) as they battled hard to avoid defeat against useful bowling by Llangwm skipper Davies (2 for 32), Matthew Kiff (2 for 19), Phil Llewellyn (3 for 31), Noah Davies (1 for 30) and Chris Inward (1 for 21) - before the Pill Parks Boys celebrated their section success in typical Llangwm style.

Narberth bounce back to winning ways

Narberth (66 for 2) beat Llanrhian (65 all out) by 8 wickets

Umpires: Tony Scourfield & Bob Elliott
Scorers: Emma Richards & Billy Clark

A five-wicket haul from 14-year-old Loui Davies got Narberth’s promotion hopes back on track as they easily accounted for Llanrhian.

Both sides were without several first team regulars, and the result leaves the visitors facing certain relegation, after a collapse that saw them go from 22 for 0 after seven overs to 31 for 7.

Openers Paul Lewis (12) and Ben Jones (9) were dismissed after getting settled, and it took an eighth wicket partnership of 31 (including 21 extras) from Rhys Price (7 not out) and Karl Davies (9) to bring any kind of respectability to the scoreline.

For Narberth, promising youngster Davies took 5 for 16 from his accurate seven overs, Ben Hughes claimed 2 for 15, Owen Richards 1 for 10, and Lewis Hough 1 for 2.

Jordan Howell’s side did lose two wickets in their reply as Ollie Cook (2) fell to Jack Jones, and Kyle Williams (4) was run out by Ben Jones.

But in-form opener Richie Adams hit eight fours in his 41 not out, and he was joined by skipper Howell (12 not out – two fours), as Narberth cruised home inside 15 overs, maintaining second spot in the table.

Skipper Richard keeps Stackpole hopes high

Burton (180 all out) lost to Stackpole (183 for 5) by 5 wickets

Umpires: Neil Croucher & Dave Bonner
Scorers: Dennis Venables & Clare Cox

Richard Mackay guided Stacpole to victory with a superb innings of 119 not outA splendid innings of 119 not out by skipper Richard Mackay kept alive Stackpole’s hopes of avoiding relegation and at the same time put a severe dent in any lingering hopes Burton had of gaining promotion.

Yet Burton looked likely to set a more sizeable score as Richard Jones (24), Morgan Scale (44) and Jonathan Venables (59) made good early contributions but then slow bowler Simon Bevan caused havoc with a 5 for 39 haul alongside 2 for 32 from pace man James Adie to limit the home side to 180 all out.

Mackay opened the batting for Stackpole and in a boundary-laden century didn’t give a single chance as he carried his bat against Steve Jones ( (2 for 38),  James Davies (2 for 33) and the rest of the home bowlers.
Josh Davies (12) and John Williams (36) gave support as Mackay led by example to set up an interesting finish to the season for both teams.

Skipper Sam sees Saundersfoot through

Saundersfoot (125 for 3) beat Haverfordwest 2nds (123 for 9) by 7 wickets

Scorers: Adge John & Kelly Williams

Sam Franklin scored a terrific 63 not out for SaundersfootSaundersfoot skipper Sam Franklin certainly led his team to a deserved seven-wicket success over Haverfordwest Seconds as he grabbed three wickets in his team’s restricting The Town to 123 for 9 and then linked superbly in an unbroken three-figure stand with another hugely influential figure in Tom Mansbridge.

Louis Rhead (16) and Dan Cole (14) managed double figures for The Town Seconds but once again it was veteran all-rounder Nigel Morgan who looked the pick of their run makers as he remained undefeated at the end with four boundaries in his 45 runs – with Franklin (3 for 18), James Caine (3 for 28), Tom Mansbridge (3 for 21) and his brother John (1 for 20) as the home side’s wicket-takers.

The Seasiders then lurched to 20 for 3 against Ashley James (2 for 29) and Morgan (1 for 23) before Franklin struck eight fours and three sixes in his 63 not out and Tom Mansbridge hit four big sixes and a four in his undefeated 40.

Borderers battle to narrow win

Whitland 2nds (117 all out) beat Carew 2nds (101 all out) by 16 runs

Umpires: Tony Waldeis & Mervyn John
Scorer: Jenny Davies-Scourfield

Gethin Scourfield - bowled well for Whitland 2ndsWhitland Seconds called upon all their battling qualities to record a 16-run victory over their counterparts from Carew, despite mustering a lowly score of 117 all out, a success that keeps alive their hopes of remaining in the section next season.

There were steady knocks for Whitland by Martin Thomas (30), Scott Newton (25), Greg Sleep (24) and Connor Bowen (18 not out) but no-one could really get on top of tight Carew bowling from Joel Reed (1 for 22), James Hinchliffe (2 for 35), Jacob Knox (2 for 20) and especially Dan Edwards (4 for 17) as they were dismissed in a disappointing 32 overs.

When Carew responded after tea it was James Hinchliffe who led their batting with 46 but only Daf Bevan (10) and Robbie Hicks (16) could manage double figures against Scott Newton (4 for 8), Greg Sleep (2 for 36), Ben Harvey (1 for 24) and talented teenager Gethin Scourfield, who finished up with 3 for 3 from his miserly three overs.
