Taffy takes Cresselly to comfortable win

Johnston (127 all out) lost to Cresselly (128 for 4) by 6 wickets

Umpires: Richard Merriman & Neil Croucher
Scorers: Delyth Summons & Teagan Cartwright

An excellent innings of 67 not out by Cresselly opener Phil ‘Taffy’ Williams, assisted by Dan James’ cracking bowling analysis, helped Cresselly maintain their push for the title against basement battlers Johnston at Glebelands.

After being asked to bat first, Johnston hopes of a big score were dented with the loss of early batsmen John Summons (14) and Dan Sutton (25), but although Lee Summons top scored with 38 only veteran bowler Richard James (13) managed double figures thereafter as Dan James led the Cresselly attack with excellent figures of 5 for 30, supported by Sam Harts (2 for 31) and Neil Gregory (3 for 30).

Williams then stroked 12 boundaries in his major batting contribution as Iwan Izzard (26) and Simon Cole (13) also chipped in some runs against Richard James (1 for 22), Jack Mills (2 for 44) and Dan Sutton (1 for 8) – and Cresselly finished things off in the 30th over.

Kilgetty hopes killed off by Carew’s all-round strength

Kilgetty (94 all out) lost to Carew (95 for 1) by 9 wickets

Scorers: Hazel Poole & Julie Davies

Kilgetty’s run of recent poor form continued against table-topping Carew, whose greater strength in depth was evident in bowling, fielding and batting as they shot out the home side for 94 and took only 20.2 overs to reach a less than challenging target.

Put in to bat, only Tom Richards (17), Kurtis Marsh (17), Kyle Marsh (39 excellent runs) and Jon Harries (12) could muster double figures against the sustained attack of Max Brindley (1 for 6), Shaun Whitfield (4 for 7), Yori Hicks (1 for 21), Ceri Brace (2 for 34) and James Hinchliffe (2 for 16).

It never looked enough to test Carew’s batting power as Tom Scourfield scored 28 and then Rhys Davies (38) and Tim Hicks (18) shared an unbroken stand of 43 to take Carew to an early-finish win as Kurtis Marsh (1 for 30) was the only successful Kilgetty bowler.

Tish take a vital victory at Neyland

Neyland (117 all out) lost to St Ishmaels (133 all out) by 16 runs

Umpires: Dave Bonner & Dai Morris
Scorer: John Laugharne & Wendy Bradshaw

Phil Cockburn helped Tish to victory at Neyland, scoring an excellent 59A terrific all-round team performance helped St Ishmaels to a narrow but deserved win at The Athletic Ground against a Neyland side minus several key players but still looking strong enough to claim victory at tea-time after dismissing the visitors for only 133 runs.

Phil Cockburn has been in excellent form for Tish with the bat this season and once again top scored with 59 (including 11 boundaries) as Andrew Palmer (20), Andrew Pawlett (15) and Brennan Devonald (10) were the only batsmen to look remotely settled against a varied Neyland bowling attack of Henry Durrant (3 for 45), Jamie Smith (1 for 22), Geraint Rees (2 for 21), Andrew Miller (2 for 32) and Gary Lloyd (1 for 11)
Andrew Miller (25) and his brother Gregg (22) were joined by Patrick Bellerby (16), Nick Koomen (12) and Gary Lloyd (18) as Neyland batsmen who made a good start but then got out to the sustained attack of Brennan Devonald (5 for 35), Andrew Palmer (2 for 51) and Danny Flynn (3 for 16).

It left Tish victors by 16 runs and able to leap-frog their opponents and into a relatively comfortable mid-table slot as their reward!

Pembroke collapse against Haverfordwest’s ‘spin twins’

Pembroke (86 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (88 for 3) by 7 wickets

Umpires: Tony Waldeis & Denis Chiffi
Scorer: Jayne Cole (Haverfordwest)

Nigel Delaney - top scored for Haverfordwest as they won at PembrokePembroke’s disappointing start to their return to the top echelon continued against Haverfordwest as they collapsed dramatically with the bat after a decent start and were unable to make enough impact with the ball before The Town eased home by seven wickets.

After losing their first wicket with the score on nine, Pembroke’s Barry Evans (21) and Phil Hay (40) shared a stand of 66 but from 75 for 2 they lost their remaining eight wickets for a paltry 11 runs against Haverfordwest ‘spin twins’ Simon Holliday (5 for 29) and Kieran O’Connor (3 for 5), after Johnny White (1 for 27) and Adam James (1 for 3 in seven miserly overs) were also in the wickets.

To be fair to Pembroke, they did manage to claim three wickets through Billy Wood (2 for 36) and Jack Harries (1 for 18) but Nitin Mathias (1 for 20) and Nigel Delaney (39) batted well to see The Town home.

Blain leads Borderers to huge success

Whitland (265 for 6) beat Lawrenny (159 all out) by 106 runs

Umpires: Allan Hansen & John Williams
Scorers: Ann-Marie Jenkins & Chris Williams

Matthew Davies takes a superb return catch to remove Steve LewisWhitland maintained their excellent run of recent form as they had Dylan Blain leading them to a mammoth score before tea and then some consistent bowling afterwards that set up a maximum bonus-points win.

Dylan Blain and Wayne Howells shared a record second-wicket stand of 233 for Whitland in their mammoth total of 265 for 6, with Howells maintaining his recent good form with 11 boundaries in his 84 run-role as opener, whilst Blain showed his batting class with nine fours and seven mighty sixes en route to 133 before he was finally caught by Brad McDermott-Jenkins off the bowling of Rob Williams (4 for 53).

Steve Lewis (1 for 40) and McDermott-Jenkins (1 for 52) were the other Lawrenny wicket-takers and Geraint Jones also managed double figures for Whitland.

Lewis also led the Lawrenny batting line-up with a classy 53 but only Brad McDermott-Jenkins (19), Rob Williams (23) and Ryan Morton (25 not out) ever stayed long against Whitland skipper Iestyn Scourfield (3 for 50), Matthew Davies (4 for 45) and Jonathan Thomas (3 for 25) before the home side celebrated their deserved position in the early race for the league title!
