Tenby United 59 - Maesteg Celtic 24

 
This was an excellent run out for a much-changed Tenby United side against opposition who gained promotion from Division Three for this season and were expected to prove a severe test for a young home unit.
 
In a fast open game, played in brilliant sunshine, there were 13 tries shared between the teams with the home side claiming five of them in the first half, turning around 33-10 up, while Maesteg Celtic ran in for two.
 
The second half was very much a repeat of the first with Tenby claiming four tries and Maesteg another two as The Seasiders attempted to open up the game at every opportunity while the opposition relied on their big pack and only threatened with rolling mauls close to the Tenby line.
 

Great lines of running pay dividends

 
The support play, backing up and lines of running put in by Tenby were a sight to behold for the large crowd, with several scores coming from deep in their own half.
 
Coach Gareth Thomas and his coaching team can be proud of this performance, which reflected the hard work put in on the training paddock, although there will be areas to work on this week as they prepare for the first league game at Crymych on Saturday, which will be a double-header with the Pembrokeshire Cup First Round game also to be decided.
 
Tenby United tries: Jordon Asparassa, Daniel Wainwright, Huw Evans, Rob Luly, Lloyd Thomas, Aaron James, Patrick Roberts, Ben Pugh and Jason Ronowitz, seven of them converted by Lloyd Thomas.
