Wales rugby 'great' Alun Wyn Jones' book signing attracts big crowds to Victoria Book Shop

Alun Wyn signs for Mrs Delphine Jones

The book itselfThe large crowd which snaked its way along Bridge Street and at the start of the High Street today in Haverfordwest was tribute to the esteem in which the Welsh and British Lions’ rugby captain Alun Wyn Jones is held across the county.

Alun Wyn was at The Victoria Bookshop in Bridge Street to sign copies of his autobiography ‘Belonging’, where published tributes about him as a man and rugby player come from other ‘Legends’ like Paul O’Connell (Ireland), Martin Johnson (England), Dyan Hartley (England), James Haskell (England) and Warren Gatland, the New Zealander who coached Wales and the British Lions.

Victoria Book Shop owner Marley Davies was delighted by the turn-out from rugby lovers and told us,
“It is the second time that Alun Wyn had signed books for us; the first time as long ago as 2011, and he remembered the warmth of his welcome – and had the same lovely response from our customers today as we have maintained our record of having Welsh ‘greats’ to sign copies of their books like Sir Gareth Edwards, Phil Bennett, Gerald Davies, JJ Williams and Delme Thomas, to name just a few.

The first delighted customer was Mrs Delphine Jones, whose husband Peter is a well-known former footballer in Haverfordwest (could be a nice Christmas present coming Peter!)

There were also lots of youngsters eager to catch a glimpse of the Welsh captain and, as usual, PembrokeshireSportco.uk was there and has a signed copy of ‘Belonging’ as a prize for a few questions answered on line a little nearer Christmas.

In the meanwhile, anyone eager not to miss out on what is sure to be a fascinating insight into Alun Wyn Jones’ rugby career and his life can still buy copies of ‘Belonging’ from the Victoria Book Shop in Haverfordwest.
