Mike Fry Under 17 Cup Quarter-Final Reports
Youth champions Blues win at a canter
Pembroke 0 - Haverfordwest 50
Haverfordwest showed why they are runaway youth champions this season and with a number of that squad, plus the pick of their under 16s, they had reached the cut-off point close to half time, leaving the referee with no option but to end the game in the Young Blues’ favour.
Man of the match Liam Hughes, playing at full back, led the way with two tries and five conversions for a personal haul of 20 points as other scores came from centre Daf Williams (2), No 8 Harvey Thomas, skipper Harrie Evans, left wing Gethin Thomas and replacement Logan Symmonds as scrum half Alfie Thomas was an ideal link between their powerful pack and pacy backs.
Pembroke never gave up trying but their inexperienced players battled hard all the way without managing to score any points for their considerable efforts.
Seasiders storm to deserved victory
Fishguard & Goodwick 21 - Tenby United 47
There was action aplenty in this entertaining tussle between two teams intent on running the ball at every opportunity, with The Young Seagulls scoring three tries and their counterparts from Tenby grabbing seven scores as fortunes ebbed and flowed.
Ianto Evans, Iestyn Robb, and Ryan Barton all scored tries for The Young Seagulls whilst Reuben Biggs landed the conversions.
For The Young Seasiders there was a try apiece for hooker Ethan Lewis, winger Callum Cogger, flanker Will Diment, centre Tyler James, flanker Jayden Allen, winger Ethan Light and scrum half Alfie Pryor, with outstanding outside half Madoc Evans controlling play well and notching six conversions.
Crymych forced to battle against All Blacks
Neyland 12 Crymych 17
Neyland have been unable to field a team at youth level this season but showed that as their under 16s are coming through now they could be a force to be reckoned with next campaign.
In this lively contest with an equally committed Crymych team, they had outstanding performances from scrum half Korey Arran, No 8 Korey Riley and skipper Josh James, playing in the centre, with flanker Seth Walker scoring their first try and winger Charlie Evans adding the second, plus one conversion from skipper James.
For Crymych, there were tries by winger Taran Morgan-Davies (2) and tight-head prop Geraint Thomas, one of them vonverted by Owain Evans.
