This game was played at pace and was very competitive before the Young Blues sealed victory by three tries to two.
 
Leading the way for Aberystwyth were winger James Powell and flanker Osian Merry, who both scored a try to go with a conversion from outside half Iago Evans as both played well in such a close contest.
 
But Haverfordwest  had two tries from their speedy winger Max Williams and a third by No 10 Jake John, who also slotted all three conversions. Playing key roles for The Blues were Malakai John, Troy Brazil, Ryan Davies, Ethan Zambas, Brandon Dewstowe and Tyler John but it was very much a team effort as they were never headed.
 
Max Williams was chosen as player of the match for The Young Blues and James Powell had the same honour for Aberystwyth in an entertaining tussle.
 
Blues’ coach Richard Brazil was quick to praise the efforts of both teams and also referee Andrew Thomas, who had a good game in the middle.

Tenby battled hard against Aberystwyth but encountered a try-scoring machine in Aberystwyth centre Finn Saycell, who raced away for four long-range tries so that the Young Seasiders were up against it from the outset as he sped over on the right from fully 65 and 60 metres, both tries converted by outside half Tristan Lewis to give Aber a 14-0 interval lead.
 
Tenby had useful performances from outside half Madoc Evans, No 9 Oliver Tucker and flanker Ethan Lewis - but every time they looked likely to gain some reward for their efforts up popped Saycell to add two more tries - and  No 10 Tristan Lewis also sped through a gap to score a try, alongside three conversions.

For Aber, centre Owain Llyr and Ifan Williams caught the eye, alongside  Gwion Pugh and especially Austin Sandford in what was an excellent team performance
 
It came as no surprise that Saycell was adjudged Aberystwyth player of the match and open-side flanker Ethan Lewis was chosen from Tenby for his tackling and involvement in all his side did.

There was total commitment shown by both teams in this age group that belied their age as the teams were locked at 5-all at half time before Crymych, who had defended well for periods in the first half but  then scored the all-important points after the interval to take the honours.
 
Milford were very disappointed because they knew how close they had come against a side which had beaten them by 60 points at the start of the campaign - but Crymych had yeoman work by Iago Fussell, George Nelson, Ewan Allum and Elliott Williams as they took the lead with an unconverted try by outside half Ifan James.
 
For Milford, Cruz Findlay, Reggie Armstrong, Dylan McGuire and Alfie Thomas led a good performance.
 
The Young Mariners missed a couple of clear-cut chances through over-eagerness in the top left corner but finally drew level with a well-taken try from Liam Hughes, who looked a more than useful player,  but despite having second use of the slope they were unable to add to their tally and Crymych added ten unanswered points.
 
They started with a well-struck penalty from Ifan Williams and then  a second try, this time by prop Geraint Thomas in the corner, which Williams converted with a magnificent kick.
 
Liam Hughes received the man of the match award for The Young Mariners whilst Ifan James was chosen for Crymych as reward for his control at outside half.
 
Tom Carew controlled the match well to confirm his growing status in Welsh rugby refereeing circles.

If ever a game showed the value of a player pathway in local rugby then it was this one because both teams played quality rugby before Haverfordwest proved good value for victory as they outscored their worthy opponents by six tries to two.
 
But the final margin didn’t quite show the part that The Young Scarlets played because they never stopped tackling and had Zak Shaw was selected as their player of the match for his work alongside Kobi Bratcher, Iolo Williams, Harry Anson and Alfie Brown – and their reward was a try each for Keanu Williams and Oliver Anson, both converted by Bowyn Clark.
 
Haverfordwest always posed a threat in attack as they looked very adept with the ball in hand and Max Fenn grabbed two tries alongside others from Devin Williams, Ashton Doyle, Kieran Harries, and Kieron Lewis, whilst their player of the match was Rio Phillips, who controlled their play well and also kicked two conversions.

The under 16s final is usually the Blue Riband event of finals’ day and this compelling contest between two superb sides was no exception and the result was in doubt right up to the last kick of the match,
 
But then a last-ditch try and conversion saw Aberystwyth making the long journey home with the coveted title and leaving a talented Tenby side desperately disappointed after going so close.
 
It was Aber who scored first when a period of pressure saw Steffan Jac Jones slot a penalty but Tenby soon fought back with a well-worked try be centre Max James was converted by outside half Iori Badham.
 
With such well-matched teams in all areas of the game, it was Aber who regained the initiative when Leo De Souza crossed the whitewash and Steffan Jac Jones added the extra points.
 
Back came Tenby in a good period for them where dynamic hooker Kyle Rossiter scored an unconverted try and Badham raced through for another five-pointer for The Young Seasiders – but Aber clawed their way back to within two points with a try by Harri Gwynne Jones.
 
Badham landed a penalty to set up a nerve jangling finale where Tenby defended well through Iwan Duffy, Iorri Richards, Will Allen and Oscar Miles, who the day before was playing in the Pembrokeshire Senior Cup Final for Kilgetty AFC!
 
But then came that match-winning moment when Harry Gwynne Jones grabbed his second try and with a large crowd looking on Steffan Jac Jones held his nerve superbly to slot the conversion .
 
Aber’s joy was evident but one can only feel sorry for Tenby because they played their part in a cracking final,  that was well refereed by Joseph Kiff. which was a credit to both clubs and their coaches, and as one local pundit told PembrokeshireSport.co.uk it was a pity that either side had to lose.!
