Division Two (West):
Seagulls welcome Myles with a resounding win
Fishguard & Goodwick 31 - Loughor 5
Referee: Steven Philipps-Harries
Fishguard and Goodwick were worthy winners of this clash at The Moors against basement club Loughor and there was a special welcome for former No 8 Myles McDuff, back with his family from New Zealand and delighted to renew old friendships that have endured for the two decades since he starred for The Seagulls.
McDuff is suffering from Motor Neurone Disease and was back in Fishguard to round off some amazing celebrations by the club to raise funds with their ‘Walk Four Miles for Myles’ campaign, which will be featured on site later today.
Loughor arrived with no front row replacements available so there was no action from set-scrums and their lightweight pack joined a back division eager to run the ball and push the powerful Seagulls’ eight for much of a tight first half where James Griffiths landed three penalties as reward for their efforts and Loughor responded with a well-worked try from flanker Evan Budge after a mazy run by pacy winger James Beech had set up an attacking position and talented young half backs Liam Hodges and Ryan Davies were involved in several other challenging periods for the home side in which skipper Chris Shousha, Sion Colella and Cai Llewellyn defended well.
Seagulls ‘heavyweights’ take over
But the second half saw The Seagulls getting on top up front as they brought their ‘heavyweight brigade’ off the bench in Simon James, Gavin Walsh, Ryan and Iwan McVeigh, all four heavily involved in close range drives that allowed half backs Max Jones and Creegan Foot to spread play left via Sion Rowlands so that full back Luke Marshall could dive in at the corner.
In sharp contrast, Loughor had mainly young players on the bench and James and Walsh in particular began to influence matters up front alongside talented youngster Rhys Lewis, who was outstanding in both ball-winning and support play, and their efforts helped Iwan McVeigh to be driven over the line and No 10 Foot added the extra points.
Then Rhys Lewis, our man of the match, took clean line-out possession on half way and took the final pass after some great handling amongst the forwards that was typified by an outrageous Walsh dummy and final pass to Lewis wide on the right.
Full back Marshall, who had one of his best games at the club, rounded off the scoring for The Seagulls to earn them a deserved bonus point in a match that was well refereed by Steven Philipps-Harries, who only knew he had the game that morning, and Loughor also deserved a pat on the back for fulfilling the fixture in difficult club circumstances and made sure that Myles McDuff had a game to enjoy with his old team-mates on a day that showed all that was good in Fishguard and Goodwick RFC!
Fishguard & Goodwick: Luke Marshall: Tom Lewis; Sion Rowlands; James Griffiths; Rhys Evans: Creegan Foot; Max Jones: Will Delaney; Liam Wilkes; Adam Bowen: Gwilym Evans; Rhys Lewis: Cai Llewellyn; Sion Colella; Chris Shousha (Capt):
Replacements: Osian Lewis; Iwan McVeigh; Ryan McVeigh; Gavin Walsh; Simon James; Joe Dunn; Ryan Foot.
Kidwelly too strong for depleted Mariners
Kidwelly 38 - Milford Haven 10

For the first quarter of their match against Kidwelly there was action aplenty from The Mariners as they matched their high-flying opponents but then skipper Dewi Williams was shown a red card for a high tackle which had no malice in it and from being level at 10-all their efforts were often on the back foot against such strong opposition.
Prop Dan Cotterell had scored a try for Kidwelly which was converted by outside half James Owens, who also landed a penalty – and it was a similar story in The Mariners’ camp as veteran fly half and coach Steve Martin sliced through for a try which he also goaled alongside a penalty.
Milford were actually reduced to 13 players at one stage following a yellow card but they never gave up trying and were praised by a Kidwelly spokesman for the quality of their rugby, with Dan Birch and Dan Jenkins continuing their centre partnership and with Dan McClelland, Lee Riley, Jordan Roberts and Ieuan Davies all giving support in defence but having limited opportunities at the other end.
Loughor showed why they are third in the section table with some positive attacking rugby as they led 24-10 at half time with flanker Mike Powell and scrum half Declan Smith scoring further tries, converted by Owens.
Although The Mariners’ back row of Kyle Hamer, Zac France Miller and Ben Groves never gave up battling away in a brave seven-man pack the home side added second-half tries from winger Kurtis Ford and another by No 9 Smith, both converted by Owens to round off the home side’s scoring.
Milford Haven: Lee Riley: Jordan Roberts; Dan Birch; Dan Jenkins; Ieuan Davies: Steve Martin; Dan McClelland: Rhys Davies; Luke Ryan; Ben Jenkins: Jack Davies; Dewi Williams (Capt): Kyle Hamer; Zac France-Miller; Ben Groves.
Replacements: Sam Dolling; Trystan Jenkins; Nathan Williams; Dylan Evans.
Division Three (West) A:
All Blacks win Sutton Cup
Llangwm 5 - Neyland 42
Referee: Richard Thomas (Carmarthen)
Neyland were worthy winners of the Sutton Memorial Cup that is competed for annually by these fierce rivals and on this occasion it was Neyland who were deserved recipients as they were sharper all-round and followed up a previous victory over The Wasps in the WRU Bowl competition with this battle for league points at the same Pill Parks’ venue.
Indeed, The All Blacks were already 20 points to the good by the half-way stage despite a lot of effort from the likes of Ieuan Power, Gavin Jones and Gethin Thomas, alongside Jason Mock, James Lewis and Ian Griffiths.
But with Iestyn Evans dominating the linesout and with good performances from Gavin Campbell, Alex Swales and especially Ben Williams and old-stager Chris Busby Neyland recorded first half tries by the elusive full back Henry McBeth, wingers Jack Johnstone and Matthew Jones, two of them converted by talented young No 10 Ollie Rothero as well a late penalty.
McBeth also opened the second half scoring with another well-taken try before Ashley Sutton, whose family donated the sought-after trophy, came off the bench and grabbed two tries and hard-working prop Luke Griffiths-Dawes rounded off their scoring from close range before Yale Grice claimed a late consolation try for The Wasps.
Former top-class player Phil Sutton presented the trophy to winning Neyland captain Owain Evans and club captain George Williams to round off a good day for the All Blacks in a match which both teams agreed was well-refereed by Mr Richard Thomas, of Carmarthen.
Llangwm: Luke Dyer: Dan Woodward; Dan Morgan; Yale Grice; Jack Roberts: Matthew Davies; Johnny White: Ieuan Power; Gethin Thomas; Gavin Jones: David Reynolds; Morgan Rees: James Lewis; Ian Griffiths; Jason Mock.
Replacements: Matthew Rees; Ben Llewellyn; Jack Clancy; Ollie Geraint; Dan Chesmer.
Neyland: Henry McBeth: Matthew Coles; Ben Millward; Jordan Allen-Wright; Jay Johnston: Ollie Rothero; George Evans: Luke Griffiths-Dawes; Alex Swales; Jack Harries: Iestyn Evans; Chris Busby: Gavin Campbell; Owain Evans; Ben Williams.
Replacements: George Williams; Ashley Sutton; Jack Richards; Mark James.
Aberaeron ease home as Saints struggle
Aberaeron 43 - St Davids 0

Aberaeron proved too strong for St Davids, who at least fulfilled the fixture despite staffing difficulties at the moment and after trailing by 24 points by half time restricted the homesters to 19 points in the second period.
The Aberaeron scorers were winger Dyfrig Dafis (2), scrum half Llyr Davies, second row Gethin Hughes, outside half Rhodri Jenkins, winger Owen Lloyd and hooker Stefan Bonsall, with Jenkins slotting four conversions and just missed out going nap as another well-struck attempt hit the upright.
To be fair to The Saints, they were in contention for the first quarter as skipper Ben Evans, hooker Tom Clarke and Aled Davies led by example up front but were always on the back foot once they conceded Dafis’s first try and were unable to cope with the Aber pack’s speed to the breakdown and the quality of their pacy backs.
So a win for Aberaeron and a double-plus for them because for the first time for a while they were able to field two senior teams on the same day – whilst St Davids are still seeking their first points of the season but at least had a full squad of 20 players taking part.
Aberaeron: Rhodri Thomas: Owen Lloyd; Dyfrig Dafis; Ollie Sawyer; Bedwyr Davies: Rhodri Jenkins; Llyr James: Owain Wozencraft; Huw Wozencraft; Dafydd Lloyd: Gethin Hughes; Llyr Davies: Hefin Williams; Gethin Dafis; Osian Sychpant.
Replacements: Steffan Bonsall; Daniel Williams; Ross Holder; Gruff Davies; Morgan Davies.
St Davids: Gino Cleal: Norman Price; George Raymond; Gavin Smith; Morgan Davies: Owain Swain; Jack Morgan: Ben Evans (capt); Tom Clarke; Adam Williams: Carwyn Lewis; Jack Johnstone: Nathan Foster; Kieran Jones; Aled Davies.
Replacements: Dan Murphy; Gethin Bateman; Sol Almond; Aaron Foster; Rhys Morgan.
Cardis run riot in second half
Cardigan 69 - Tregaron 5
Cardigan held the edge in most departments again Tregaron and were good value for a 17-point interval lead – and really went to town after the break as they ran in another 52 points whilst all Tregaron had to show for their efforts was an unconverted try.
Full back Ben Rogers, hooker Luke Palmer-Davies and second row Sion Phillips grabbed their tries in the first half, the first converted by outside half Llyr Jones.
Ben Rogers also started the second-half scoring with his second try and others came in quick succession from skipper Tom Taylor, replacement Sion Hughes (2), centre Marcus Castle, flanker Rhodri Davies and left winger Jack Taylor, six of them goaled by Llyr Jones.
Cardigan: Ben Rogers: Alun Jenkins; Kieran Greenland; Marcus Castle; Jack Taylor: Llyr Jones; Danny Bradshaw. William Brice; Luke Palmer-Davies; Ben Cox: Sion Phillips; Kester Adams: Connor Owen; Rhodri Davies; Tom Taylor (Capt).
Replacements: Andrew Fletcher; Tomos Evans; Sion Hughes; Owain Rees; Elis Jones.
Shane stars for The Saints with a try hat-trick
St Clears 52 - Pembroke Dock Harlequins 19

Shane Morgan was the toast of his St Clears’ team mates as the strong-running centre grabbed three of their eight tries against a Pembroke Dock Harlequins side which was 0-17 down at the interval but never gave up trying and managed three tries of their own in an entertaining game, two of them by classy centre Jack Price.
Morgan grabbed two of those tries in the first half, one of them an interception, alongside another from pacy winger John Gostling and a conversion from Dan Griffiths, as the Quins also created some half chances thanks to the work-rate up front of Hywel Baker, Liam Scourfield and Ben Gibby.
And The Quins opened up the second-half scoring when Price powered over the line and full back Euan McDonald converted – but they conceded a fourth try almost immediately as Saints’ skipper Gareth Jones, playing at prop, went in from close range and Griffiths added the extra points.
Then No 8 Will Icke scored a try for St Clears, again converted by Griffiths before Price claimed his second score, converted by McDonald, to keep his side just 17 points adrift.
Tries continued to come at regular intervals as Morgan managed his third try which Griffiths converted – and at the other end flanker Liam Scourfield crossed the whitewash for the visitors.
But from then on it was St Clears who put their foot on the accelerator and scored further tries from Aled Owens and Tom Davies to give them their ninth win from 11 starts – and deserved second spot in the table whilst The Quins remain in eighth place, having won four of their ten matches.
St Clears: Sam Miles: Aled Owens; Jac Howells; Shane Morgan; John Gostling: Dan Griffiths; Rhodri Evans: Gary Barnes; Gareth Lewis; John Rhys: Tom Rees; Geraint Harries: Brandon Williams; Tom Williams: Will Icke.
Replacements: Gareth Jones; Jack Green; Tom Davies; Shane Thomas; Alfie Montgomery.
Pembroke Dock Harlequins: Euan McDonald: James Hughes; Jack Price; Gethin Bradney; Kobie Thomas: Aaron Cookson; Ollie Lewis: Jack Davies; Dan McCloud; Kieran Cookson: Sam James; Ben Gibby: Liam Scourfield; Jordan Palmer; Hywel Baker.
Replacements: Will Nicot; Byron Hughes; Danny Wilkes; Martin Culley.
