Championship:
Otters denied victory in closing moments
Narberth 30 - Cross Keys 32
Narberth came very close to victory in their home match against fourth-placed Cross Keys but missed out on the chance to leap-frog their opponents in the league table after they had led 30-27 but conceded a late try to winger Tom Davies to deny themselves success.
The Otters trailed 15-17 at half time, despite tries from winger Josh Davies and young centre Ilan Phillips, who was again chosen as their man of the match, plus an opening penalty from full back Nick Gale and one conversion, whilst Cross Keys replied with tries by No 8 Lewis Robey and full back Morgan Johns, both converted by right winger Adam Tetley alongside a conversion.
The second half was equally competitive as the visitors added a third try from centre Corey Nichols, with Tetley again converting and adding another penalty but The Otters played really well and another Gale penalty as he also grabbed a good try of his own and a conversion of a try from flanker Caine Rees-Jones seemed likely to give them victory.
But then Cross Keys had the final word and disappointment for The Otter camp because they had played well – but at least had the consolation of two bonus points for their part in an excellent game, well reffed by Ian Davies.
Narberth: Nick Gale: Ashley Sutton; Ilan Phillips; Hedd Nicholas; Josh Davies: Jonathan Rogers; Lewys Gibby: Bradley Davies; Dan Smith; Tom Slater: Rhys Williams; Tom Powell (Capt): Caleb Salmon; Caine Rees-Jones; Richard Rees.

Division One (West):
Preseli Men prevail in hard-fought finish
Crymych 24 - Yr Hendy 21
Crymych played really well to claim a deserved home win over a gritty Yr Hendy team which stayed in contention until the final whistle, which was delayed somewhat because of a head injury to home centre Laurence Headlam.
The Preseli Men led 17-14 at half time thanks to tries by winger Ned Bennett after a good handling move at pace across the back division, and second row Llyr Davies from good forward pressure and drive to the posts, both converted by full back Adam Phillips alongside a penalty landed in between.
For the visitors there were tries by winger Robbie Davies and No 8 Callum Williams, both converted by full back Tyler Page, who also landed a third two-pointer in the second period after a try by scrum half Ifan Baynham.
But by then Crymych were 24-14 ahead as ubiquitous No 9 Dafydd Phillips again got his name on the try sheet as reward for his terrific support play throughout – and Adam Phillips again converted.
There was further good news with the fact that Laurence Headlam has been discharged from hospital and everyone involved in the game will wish this popular player a speedy recovery.
Crymych: Adam Phillips: Owain Evans; Laurence Headlam; Gethin Gibby; Ned Bennett: Ifan Phillips; Dafydd Phillips: Jonathan Clout; Lee Griffiths; Ifan James: Matthew Freebury; Llyr Davies: Cai Ifans; Rhydian Howells; Dafydd Gibby.

Borders bag a deserved draw
Penclawdd 24 - Whitland 24
Whitland battled hard to earn a draw at Penclawdd as they pushed the opposition all the way and had chances throughout as reward for their commitment and willingness to play positive rugby throughout.
The Borderers’ efforts were rewarded with excellent tries by No 8 Jack Mason, centre Liam Price and winger Owyn Griffiths, with outside half Geraint Jones playing well alongside skipper Benji Kirk (excellent in the linesout) and prop Ceiron Evans, and notching all three conversions and a penalty as he played well in cahoots with Trystan Rees.
‘The Cocklemen’ responded with tries from scrum half Iwan Jones, No 8 Johnny Hughes and flanker Dan Guannieri, all converted by No 10 Sam Devonald, who also slotted a penalty.

Division Two (West):
Seasiders stumble in closing moments
Burry Port 25 - Tenby United 19
Tenby United had to settle for a losing bonus point after conceding a late try after playing really well to lead 19-18 – but then a couple of missed tackles cost them dearly as a home kick to the corner saw them regain possession and scrum half Rhodri Taylor sniped away on the blind side to score a converted try.
Burry Port took the early lead with a penalty but back came The Seasiders as winger Tom Griffin latched on o a clever cross-field kick and although he was held up did well to find Jack Broadhurst for the No 8 to mark his return to action with a try that No 10 Lloyd Thomas converted before adding a penalty.
The home side reduced the deficit with an unconverted try from a rolling maul but The Seasiders took a 13-10 into half time as Tomas grabbed his second penalty.
Burry Port made the better start to the second half as they scored a converted try and penalty but two Lloyd Thomas penalties nudged Tenby back in front, although the outside half was lucky to escape a serious head injury.
But then came that late lapse of concentration that saw them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but head coach Jonathan Evans was quick afterwards to sing his squad’s praises for the way they played the game.

All-square in entertaining local derby
Milford Haven 23 - Fishguard & Goodwick 23

Local derby matches between Milford United and Fishguard & Goodwick are traditionally hard-fought and this one was no exception as fortunes ebbed and swayed at The Obs before honours ended even as they shared 46 points!
Diminutive winger Ieuan Davies opened The Mariners’ account with an interception try from fully 75 metres and after Seagulls’ centre James Griffiths had reduced the margin with a penalty it was cancelled out with a similar effort by canny home No 10 Steve Martin before burly prop Adam Bowen rounded off some Fishguard pressure with a try that put the visitors 10-8 in front at the break.
The Mariners had tries by No 10 Martin and No 8 Gareth Fawcett alongside another Martin three-pointers but The Seagulls responded with a penalty try for blatant obstruction and two more Griffiths penalties and, try as they might- neither side was able to breal the deadlock and had to settle for a share of the spoils, which was just about the right result on the day.
Milford Haven: Lee Riley (Co-Capt): Ieuan Davies; Dan Birch (Co-Capt); Dan Jenkins; James Sheen: Steve Martin; Dan McClelland: Ben Jenkins; Luke Ryan; Jimmy Buirds: Zac Davies; Jay Goodall: Ethan Allen; Ben Groves; Gareth Fawcett.

Division Three (West) A:

Blues secure success in one-sided first half
Haverfordwest 40 - Llanybydder 7
Haverfordwest continue to move up the section table with this comfortable home win against a gritty Llanybydder side which was already up against it by half time as they trailed by 35-0.
But the visitors deserve credit for the way that they stuck to their task and managed to quell The Blues’ forward dominance and actually won the second half 7-5!
Haverfordwest’s forward power is already well documented as their front row of Dan Berry, Jamie Zambas and Terry Lovell are good scrummagers, Karl Busch and Mikey Griffiths are adept ball winners and so are the back row trio of Jon Mason, Tom Carrington and Lewis Tingay seemed to win ball at will and five tries, all converted by full back Archie Thomas, were in the bag at half time.
Karl Busch claimed the opener as reward for his total commitment and then centre Josh Thomas got his angles right to power over at the posts before hooker Zambas rounded off a forward drive, as he does so often.
Experienced outside half Stuart Morris, who worked well with young scrum half Liam Eaton, darted over for try No 4 and powerhouse centre Thomas rounded off the half’s points with his second try.
It looked as if the points glut might continue after half time when winger Sam Webber when Morris put him in at the corner for the only unconverted try – but Llanybydder had other ideas and perhaps The Blues took their feet off the pedal because the only other score fell to the visitors as flanker Liam Fitzpatrick crossed the whitewash and outside half Llyr Tobias added the extra points.
But Haverfordwest were good value for victory and the afternoon was also enjoyed by many of their former players who attended a special players’ reunion where some of the very best players who had ever worn the Blues’ Jersey took a real ‘Walk Down Memory Lane’ as well as enjoying some of the rugby!
Haverfordwest: Archie Thomas: Sam Webber; Craig Barnett; Josh Thomas; Scott Candler: Stuart Morris; Liam Eaton: Dan Berry; Jamie Zambas; Terry Lovell: Karl Busch; Michael Griffiths: Jonathan Mason Capt); Tom Carrington; Lewis Tingay.
Replacements: Ben Thomas; Lee Summons; Jack Evans.
Wasps overpowered by Teifisiders
Llangwm 0 - Cardigan 67
Llangwm battled hard against a strong Cardigan side but in the final analysis the visitors to Pill Parks were too strong up front so that skipper Tom Taylor and Jac Davies could call the shots as they were already 24-0 ahead at half time and added another 43 unanswered points as they eventually ran in 11 tries, six of them converted by scrum half Llyr Jones.
The Wasps’ pack put in lots of effort, led by Ashley James, Ian Griffiths, Jason Mock and Gavin Jones but tries from wingers Dafydd Griffiths and Tomos Jones, plus full back Tom Griffiths and second row Sion Phillips, two of them converted saw The Teifisiders already assured of a bonus point.
Tomos Jones completed his hat-trick after the break and other tries came from centres Kieran Greenland and John Lumb, Dafydd Griffiths again and replacement winger Rhodri Davies to see Cardigan claim their biggest score for some time.
Llangwm: Ollie Gerson: Dan Morgan; Yale Grice; Owain Jones; Jack Roberts: James Brock; Dylan Philpott: Ieuan Power; Callum Jenkins; Andrew Milward: Steven Rees; Gavin Jones: Ashley James; Ian Griffiths; Jason Mock.
Replacements: Matthew Rees; Mikey Phillips; Ollie Kersey; George John; Dan Ridge.
Cardigan: Tom Griffiths: Tomos Jones; John Lumb; Kieran Greenland; Dafydd Griffiths: Jac Davies; Llyr Jones: Andrew Jones; Rhodri Parry Jones; Tomos Evans: Kester Adams; Sion Phillips: Marcus Castle; Geraint Williams; Tom Taylor (Capt). Replacements: Dylan Castle; Will Brice; Ben Hughes; Rhodri Davies.
George’s late input grabs glory for All Blacks
Neyland 7 - St Davids 3

Points were at a premium at the Athletic Ground as the only two scores came in the final ten minutes – and it was George Evans who showed his worth after starting at flanker and scoring a try which he also converted from wide out from the last move of an absorbing clash where the final score belies the good rugby played by both teams.
Both sides deserve credit for the pace at which they moved the ball around and working well with referee Rod Williams (Llanelli) so there wasn’t a single yellow card but always very competitive.
The lack of any points in the first half belied the effort put in, with St Davids starting well but being met with stout Neyland resistance in which their back line covered well and there was no shortage of tackling from Ben Williams, Iestyn and Owain Evans, George Evans and the rest of their pack.
When the home side enjoyed a period of pressure Ollie Rothero missed a penalty and the best chance fell to winger Matthew Coles as he used his pace to slice through from well inside his own half but with the line at his mercy he fell in a heap with damage to his hamstring.
He still had the presence of mind to throw the ball backwards and prop Luke Griffiths-Dawes did well to be first in support but he was unlucky not to catch the loose ball and St Davids managed to scramble the ball clear.
In an equally absorbing second half both teams had their chances, with Saints’ No 10 Aaron Foster off target with two penalties before winger Adam Phillips finally landed three points from long-range with nine minutes left.
But Neyland kept plugging away and almost on full time they were awarded a penalty which George Evans booted into the corner and from the resultant lineout drive he emerged with the touch-down and added the superb conversion to give his side victory and leave St Davids having to settle for a bonus point.
Neyland: Patrick Bellerby: Henry McBeth; Jake Griffiths; Ben Millward; Matthew Coles: Oli Rothero; Owen Hamer: Luke Griffiths-Dawes; Owain Evans; Craig Power: Mark James; Dan Hart: George Evans; Iestyn Evans; Ben Williams.

Replacements: Ryan John; Kieran Jones; Jack Norcross; Alex Osbourne, Callum Bather.
