Rugby Reports - 24th October 2026

The successive storms that invaded Pembrokeshire caused the eagerly-awaited WRU cup matches to be hit by the weather, other than those involving Fishguard & Goodwick, plus local derbies at Pembroke and Teirw Crymych.

Al the other games will now have to be played next Saturday, 31st October 2026.

Division Four Cup - Second Round:

Fuller flair sends Otters through

Harry Fuller - 31 points for Narberth Athletic against PembrokePembroke 15 - Narberth Athletic 46

It was a day to remember for Narberth winger Harry Fuller as he helped the visitors upset the form guide to hammer Pembroke and make the last-16, writes Fraser Watson.

Despite conditions hardly being conducive to running rugby, Fuller, who has featured lately in the Premiership with the club's first team, scored four first-half tries and also had success with the boot as he notched a personal haul of 31 points.

His contribution helped ensure the away side essentially had the result sown up by the interval as they led 27-0, and there were three further tries after the break as the impressive Henry Flower also touched down along with Mike Bratcher and Charlie Reynolds. Fuller added four conversions and a penalty to go with his try-haul.

Zak Shaw - another two tries for Scarlets No 8As for the Scarlets, they were off the boil in the first half and started slowly after the break but did show some fight in the final quarter after Theo Davies and Dan James came off the bench.

Indeed, they scored three tries themselves as Jarred Sherratt, replacement Davies, and Zak Shaw all crossed but it wasn't enough to prevent a first defeat since September 12.

Afterwards, Narberth coaching staff member Steve Beeken told Pembrokeshire Sport: "It was a really good win, especially as we are missing a number of key players through injury at the moment."

Meanwhile, Pembroke team manager Robin Badham conceded the hosts were below-par, saying: "It was a really poor start from us. We finally woke up in the last 20 minutes and scored some tries bit it was way too little, too late."

The Crymych first team coaches who played together for the first time in 20 years - helping out the seconds

Emlyn win a tight tussle against The Bulls

Teirw Crymych 8 - Dreigiau Emlyn 10

A late 40-metre penalty from Deiniol Jones gave Newcastle Emlyn victory at Crymych in a cup tie that proved a real war of attrition, writes Fraser Watson.

Given the weather and inevitably soaking pitch, both second teams showed admirable commitment and went all out at each other as the game remained in the balance right until the final whistle.

It was the visitors who had the upper hand in the scrums and it proved a crucial factor. They took the lead 13 minutes in when from an eight-man shunt outstanding No.8 Aled Jones picked up and scored, and Jones added the extras.

But back came from Crymych with a series of forward drives that created the space on the blindside for second row Rhydian Howells to charge over wide.

At 7-5 down half-time, the hosts turned around with the elements against them but veterans Aled Harries and Rhys Richards came off the bench and added real impetus up front, while the ball carrying of Llyr Davies and Sion Wilson also stood out. Sure enough, they took a slender lead when a charge from Iolo Harries in midfield set up a penalty chance that Arwel Davies landed.

The score stayed that way until six minutes from time, but when Emlyn full back Rees was given the chance to take three points with the wind behind him, he held his nerve and nailed his effort between the posts.

Crymych tried to respond as the pack hammered away late on in a bid to get field position but the away defence stood firm, and the final whistle signalled the end of an absorbing 80 minutes that was one for the purists.

"It could have gone either way. Both teams went at each other and it was a try apiece - but credit to their kicker at the end," said player-coach Harries, who was helping out the Bulls as the first team having a Saturday off.

He was also able to enjoy being reunited on the field with fellow coach Huw Rees, who was instrumental at scrum-half, as the pair played for Crymych together for the first time in almost 20 years after previously being teammates at Whitland and throughout junior level.

Crymych: Taran Morgan-Davies: Steffan Rees; Iolo Phillips; Owain Rees; Hedd James: Arwel Davies; Huw Rees: Owain Hughes; Steffan Davies; Thomas Davies: Rhydian Howells; Tomos Jones: Sion Wilson; Griff Lloyd; Llyr Davies. Replacements: George Nelson; Rhys Richards; Gwion Evans; Aled Harries; Steffan Rees.

Division Two Cup - Second Round:

Seagulls suffer in abject conditions

Bryncoch 24 - Fishguard & Goodwick 0

Back-rower Owen Thomas - outstanding for BryncochFishguard & Goodwick travelled play Bryncoch, a team from the Neath area, with a much-changed squad and paid the inevitable price against experienced opposition currently lying fourth in Division Two (West Central).

But The Seagulls deserve every credit for fulfilling their obligation and those players drafted in gave 100% performances, as did the others involved.

Bryncoch were 14-0 ahead at half time as they used the elements in their favour, despite the yeoman work of Luke McDuff, Jack Richards and Taine Williams in the back row as they worked hard alongside young scrum half Reuben Lerwill and Marc Jones, who tried to keep his pack going against experienced campaigners like Jack Adderly (160 appearances),Owen Thomas (82) and skipper Josh Thomas (90).

The Bryncoch tries came from winger Conan Doyle and flanker Owen Thomas, both converted by No 10 Shay Sheppard – and in the second half they added two more unconverted tries from centre Sean Waldeck and replacement Josh White.

The Seagulls battled hard to open their account in the second half in deteriorating conditions but although they went close on occasions, they made the long journey home without any points – but having played their hearts out for their club.

Development/Friendly Match:

Local clubs defy the elements at Bierspool

Pembroke Dock Harlequins 29 - Milford Haven 0

Dan McLeod - try scorer for The Quins Danny Wilkes - scored one of the five tries for The QuinsDespite so many rugby matches being called off, both Pembroke Dock Harlequins and Milford Haven deserve every credit for turning out for a friendly at Bierspool where a number of youngsters in their development squads, plus some ‘old timers’ enjoying a run out braved the elements.

The Quins were arguably a little more experienced and this showed up as they ran in five tries, two of them converted, without conceding any points, despite The Mariners going close on several occasions – and with both teams trying their best to play running rugby, despite a ball that inevitably got more and more greasy as the game went on.

The Quins’ tries came from Danny Wilkes, Dan McLeod, Owain Turner, Connor Davies and Jack Byrne, who was making a welcome return to action for the club.

Morgan Rogers landed both successful conversions and others who caught the eye were Danny Dunn, from last season’s youth team, and Connor Davies, who was making his senior debut.

For Milford Haven, there was no shortage of effort from their squad, with Ioan Evans, AJ Booth, Nathan Abbott and skipper Ioan Jarman all catching the eye.

Milford Haven: Toby Treyhern: Ethan John; Joel Thomas; Bradley Davies; Daniel Hatch: Nathan Abbott; Jayden Elliott: Jamie Campbell; Harry Picton; Ioan Jarman (Capt): Matt Charles; Woody Walters: AJ Booth, Owen Evans; Morgan McLuckie.
