Quins too strong overall for win-less Wasps
Llangwm 14 Pembroke Dock Harlequins 59
Pembroke Dock Harlequins maintained their improvement of form as they comfortably accounted for Llangwm at Pill Parks and condemned the Wasps to an 11
th successive defeat and still seeking their first point of a difficult campaign.
The Quins welcomed back former players Damian Miller and Jonathan Rogers from Tenby United and both made an impact as full back Miller sped over for a hat-trick of tries and No 10 Rogers also scored a try and landed seven out of nine conversion attempts.
To be fair to the Wasps, they never gave up trying and scored two good ties in the second half, the first from No 8 Matthew John and the second from centre Andrew Brock, who also kicked both conversions.
The Quins led by 28-0 at half time as Rogers converted tries from centre Dai Rees, winger Liam Smith and full back Miller, who crossed twice in as many minutes just before the interval.
Miller then made a break to send winger Smith in for his second try before Miller claimed his own third try. Others followed from Quins’ centre Mark Roach, No 10 Rogers and finally skipper Barry Parsons as reward for all his considerable efforts. Rogers converted three of them to send the Quins back over the Cleddau Bridge in fine fettle – leaving the Wasps still seeking that elusive first league point!

Cardis edged out in a cracker
Cardigan 20 Pontarddulais 22
Cardigan played some really good rugby against Pontarddulais but eventually had to settle for a bonus point as consolation in a narrow defeat at the hands of a team seeking a promotion place.
The Bont served notice of intent as they opened the scoring after 19 minutes with a well-conceived try by centre Gwyn Davies, which was converted by right winger Gary Williams, before the Teifisiders responded six minutes later with a Iestyn Crompton penalty.
The visitors established a 12-3 interval lead when Williams sped through for an unconverted try – but both teams began the second period with 13 players after the referee issued two yellow cards to each side after a melee.
The Cardis started the second half superbly with a 42
nd minute try and conversion by full back James Russell, followed a minute later by an unconverted try from right winger Rhydian Jenkins which eased them 13-12 in front.
Back came The Bont with a 47
th minute try from left winger Steffan Williams, converted by his namesake Gary, but as fortunes ebbed and flowed in an exciting tussle, the Teifisiders regained the lead with an unconverted 53
rd minute try by scrum half Llyr Tobias.
The lead was short-lived, however, because within five minutes centre Jonathan Lloyd slotted a penalty for The Bont which proved to be the final score as both defences held firm in the final nerve-jangling quarter.
Blues battle in vain
Penclawdd 10 Haverfordwest 3
Haverfordwest showed true grit against table-topping Penclawdd but had to settle for a bonus point as their opponents recorded their tenth win from 11 league starts.
Just how tight the first half was can be gauged from the fact that there was a 0-0 scoreline at the oranges as Adam Clarke, Ollie Evans, Alun Harries and Dewi Williams caught the eye up front for the Blues, with Scott John covering well in the centre.
The Cocklemen finally broke the deadlock with a penalty from centre Chris Corbisiero, who also landed the extra points when Dan Guaneri scored what turned out to be the only try of the match.
Ashley Sutton kicked a penalty for the Blues but missed two others in the heavy conditions, and they remain in 11
th place near the foot of the table after their ninth defeat in 11 league games.

Aber too strong for the Mariners
Aberaeron 31 Milford Haven 5

Aberaeron proved too strong for Milford Haven after their committee performed wonders in getting the pitch ready, with their efforts rewarded as Aber ran in five tries to also secure a bonus point.
For the Mariners it was an improved performance. Despite trailing 21-0 at the interval and having to wait until late on for skipper Mike Cockburn to claim an unconverted try as a reward for his and the team’s collective efforts.
Home hooker Carwyn Davies opened the scoring with a try and others came from outside half Aled Sweeney (2), flanker Kieran Ethridge and Rhydian Jenkins.
Sweeney also notched three conversions and it was hooker Carwyn Davies who was adjudged man of the match for his all-round play.
Mike Cockburn - Milford skipper scored their only try at Aberaeron

Six-try Scarlets play well
Pembroke 30 Llangadog 12
Pembroke bounced back to something like their best form as they scored six tries, all unconverted, against visiting Llangadog whilst only conceding two to pick up maximum points for their efforts.
The Scarlets were good value for a 20-5 interval lead as No 8 Sam Smith, playing on permit from Tenby United, scored their opening try from close range, followed by others from full back Luca Tremarco, flanker Danny Manning and skipper Geraint Jackson.
Llangadog centre Daniel Phillips scored his team’s only points in that first half and added his second in the second half, converted by Matthew Bailey – but Scarlets’ skipper Jackson, playing on the wing, was joined on the try sheet by winger James Skeels to help his side into fourth spot in the section table, leap-frogging the opposition in the process.
