Feature Match – Division Two (West):
Seagulls shine with their running rugby
Fishguard & Goodwick 38 - Nantgaredig 22

Fishguard & Goodwick produced their best form of the season as they ran in six tries against a solid Nantgaredig side which played some neat rugby but were unable to match The Seagulls in their ball retention before launching some telling attacks – and this was very much evidenced in the opening minute of each as they scored cracking tries, both from live-wire flanker Jac Delaney, who went on to claim a deserved hat-trick.
In the pre-match warm-up, it was evident that coaches Nathan Jenkins and Tom Meredith have worked on good handling, with the latter spending a lengthy period in close passing and support play – and from the kick-off The Seagulls spread play left and up popped the outstanding Delaney as he powered over at the posts.
Jake Jenkins marked his welcome return to action with the simple conversion but then Nant showed what they could do with a series of attacks launched by half backs Iwan Milward and Sion James that saw them take an 8-7 lead with a penalty from winger Logan Davies and an unconverted try by No 8 Dom Hammett.
But in a peak period before the interval F & G added a Jenkins penalty from the kick-off and grabbed two quality tries, which Jenkins converted, from Max Jones (after good work down the right by Rhys Evans, Jenkins and Dec Thomas which the scrum half finished off from a final pass inside), and the ubiquitous Delaney from a concerted forward effort and controlled line-out drive.

It meant The Seagulls were 24-8 in front at the interval and added another seven points from the restart as Cai Llewellyn took the kick off and made good ground before finding Osian Rowe in support – and the lofty lock found winger Ed Rathbone with pace to burn on a run to the line, with Jenkins converting.
It says a great dela for Nant’s determination that refused to surrender and the introduction of the classy Ben Proctor at full back paid rich dividends as he sped through for two tries, both of which he also converted.
Sandwiched in between was Delaney’s third tr: another as the result of good handling and keeping the ball free – and Jenkins’ fifth conversion of the afternoon completed the Seagulls’ scoring to earn them their second success of the season.

Seasiders superb as they beat leaders Burry Port
Tenby United 27 - Burry Port 17

Tenby United produced a cracking display of attacking rugby, allied to total commitment, as they halted Burry Port’s six-match undefeated run to the top pf the table and their fitting reward was a bonus point for scoring four tries that saw then win the league points battle by 5-0 – so small wonder that coach Jonathan Evans was delighted.
“We knew that only our best would do and we made sure they weren’t allowed to use their typical game plan, while our whole squad certainly made sure our plan worked.”
The Seasiders established an early 12-point lead thanks to tries by talented young flanker Jesse James and winger Gwion Jones, one converted by Lloyd Thomas – but Burry Port fought back hard with a good try by Dan Morgan, converted by Lee Evans alongside a penalty and Cai Evans, both unconverted.
A Lloyd Thomas penalty was followed by a second score try for the visitors by Cai Evans, again converted by Lee Evans – and suddenly Burry Port were 17-15 ahead at the interval.
But whatever the home coaches said at half time it certainly worked as their pack gained the upper hand and half backs Bowyn Clark and Thomas took control – with two further tries by bustling No 8 Dom Colman and then the all-important fourth score by replacement Max Brindley that sealed the win and extra bonus point that pushes them into second place behind their opponents, with a game in hand on them and Felinfoel, now in third spot.
Tenby United: Geraint Jones: Kodi Bratcher; Jackson Gravatt; Tom Edmonds; Gwion Jones: Lloyd Thomas; Bowyn Clark: Jack Davies; Jack Brown; Ethan Morgan: Tom Barrass; Alex Jenkins (Capt): Dan Colley, Jesse James; Dom Colman.

Division Two (West):
Borderers miss out against The Bont
Whitland 17 - Pontarddulais 41

An eventful few days for Whitland ended with a defeat at the hands of Pontarddulais but the Borderers could at least look back on a second half display where they fought back to score three tries.
Earlier in the week, the hosts had opened up their clubhouse to the community after a number of residents were affected by the flooding in the area, and at least were able to field a full squad after failing to fulfil their last two fixtures.
But it was the league leaders who sauntered into a 0-19 half-time lead and then added four further tries in the second period. Second row and skipper Jacob Miles was joined by player-coach Josh Goss in scoring a try brace, while centre Llyr Gealy, winger Scott Simmons, and No 10 Iwan Evans crossed as well. Evans also added three conversions to complete the scoring for the away side.
Whitland didn't cave in though, with centre Lucas Dance starring with a second half hat-trick of tries. Outside half Harry Rossiter kicked a conversion and the likes of prop Trystan Bowen, No.9 Adam Davies (on permit from Laugharne), flanker Jack Southam and full back Gethin Scourfield all impressed - but the result leaves the home side still in the bottom two.
Whitland: Gethin Scourfield: Gavin Smith; Lucas Dance; Rhys Nicholas; Tom Day: Shane Rossiter; Adam Davies: Jonny Phillips; Matt Driver; Ceiron Evans (Capt): Raff Williams; Jack Evans: Tyrstan Bowen; Jack Southam; Benji Kirk.
Replacements: Shane Clarke; Tomos Hughes; ?Charlie Watson; ?Gareth Davies.
Division Three (West):
Mariners miss out in Llandeilo
Llandeilo 43 - Milford Haven 8

After a cracking win against Cardigan the previous week the Mariners travelled to Llandeilo with hopes of another leap up the table but sadly, they were unable to produce that sort of form and after trailing by only 15-3 at the interval they weren’t in contention thereafter as both teams had a man red-carded in a second-half handbags’ session, whilst a couple of other yellow cards didn’t help either.
James Trueman scored a first-half penalty and player coach Zac France-Miller added a try early in the second period – but Llandeilo climbed to third place in the table, as Milford remain fifth, with home tries from New Zealand winger Tom Johnston (2), flanker Dominic Jones (2), scrum half Harry Morgan and centre Dan Thomas.
Classy outside half Steve Roberts called the shots for Llandeilo, adding five conversions and a penalty as a bonus.

Cardis’ come-back snatches late victory
Cardigan 22 - Narberth Athletic 20
A late try by Luke Rogers, his second of the afternoon, gave Cardigan a narrow win over Narberth Athletic, although there was a heart-stopping moment just before the final whistle when it appeared that the Otters had snatched victory with a corner try, only to called back for a foot in touch!
Strong-running centre Iwan John had opened his team’s account before replacement scrum half Rogers dived, over, with a third claimed by No 8 and skipper Marcus Catle, converted by Jac Davies.
In an exciting tussle where the lead changed hands, The Athletic had three tries from skipper Will Davies (2) and elusive winger Matthew Harries: plus, a conversion and penalty by full back Ashton O’Readen, saw The Athletic go so close- but Rogers’ try in the 80
th minute was enough after the visitors had gone so close four minutes later.
The end-result was that Cardigan’s first win of the season saw them pouch five league points and leap-frog over Narberth Athletic, who could muster only a single league point despite their considerable efforts!

Division Four (West) A:
The Dragons ease home at Crickmarren
Pembroke 19 - Dreigiau Emlyn 35

Dreigiau Emlyn jumped into fourth place in the section table at the expense of opponents Pembroke after a deserved victory in an absorbing clash at Crickmarren, where they scored four tries to The Scarlets’ three, but with ace kicker Deiniol Rees collecting 15 points as reward for his outstanding individual performance.
The Scarlets scored three times via second row William Edwards, skipper and prop Lloyd Davies and replacement John Wood, two of the converted by full back Lewis Davies and No 10 Rhys Johns.
But it proved not to be worth a single league point as The Dragons had tries from Owain Kremmans (2), Celt Davies and Tomos Price, to take the full five points on offer as Deiniol Rees converted three of them and added three penalties to give his side an excellent away victory.
Pembroke: Lewis Davies: Evan Davies; James Allen; Fraser James; Zach Evans: Rhys Johns; Josh Greenwood: Lloyd Davies (Capt); Dan Davies; Jamie Brayford: William Edwards; Cyle Weatherall: Zac Shaw; Rhydian Eynon; George Jones.

Voyce rounds off St Davids’ second half come-back
St Davids 19 Tenby United Athletic 15
Replacement centre Danny Voyce was the late hero for St Davids as they fought back from 15-0 down to beat Tenby Athletic at the death,
writes Fraser Watson.
It was a result that barely looked conceivable after an hour, with the visitors fully deserving their lead before they conceded three yellow cards as the tide turned, and the Saints were rewarded for turning down a number of kickable penalties that would have secured a draw before Voyce went over from close range.
Seasiders sail out wide early on
For 20 minutes, the game was deadlocked before Tenby sprang into life. No.10 Harry Rossiter became increasingly influential and it was his miss pass that led to Jordan Asparassa stepping two defenders before going over out wide.
The winger went close again only to be denied by a last ditch tackle from home full back Adam Phillips, and then Mathew Lewis was denied a score as referee Jonathan Walters disallowed his try from Rossiter's cross-field kick. However, the latter soon added a penalty to extend their lead to 10-0.
St Davids then had their first real period of pressure as Aaron Foster opted to tap a penalty from close range but the attack came to nothing, and Tenby soon went down the other end as Cal Earland, who replaced injured No.8 Taz Richards, touched down from a lineout drive. Rossiter added the extras and at the interval, the game looked as good as over.
Saints storm back in final quarter
The opening stages of the second half were stagnated, and although St Davids enjoyed more possession there was little sign of a turnaround as their lineout failed to function.
But with 20 minutes to go, Bruce Evans' side got a foothold as Asparassa was sent to the sin bin, and moments later a close range scrum led to winger Luke Bamford crossing in the corner.
Captain Nathan Foster, who along with No.8 George Raymond was instrumental with his carrying up front, then further cut the deficit by powering over and Mike Gurney converted to make it a three-point game.
As the pressure continued, Tenby forwards Rhys Grigg and Earland were also given 10 minutes for offenses and three times, the Saints opted against kicking for goal to go for the win. It paid dividends in the final play, after a close range scrum led to a series of drives for the line before Voyce went under the posts to spark a mixture of celebration and relief among home players and supporters.
"The wind advantage helped in the second half and we also made some changes which worked," said home coach Evans afterwards. "We obviously made hard work of it, and we had a number of chances to win it and we eventually took one. But we needed a win, and hopefully that will give the boys confidence."
Man of the match: Nathan Foster
For 40 minutes, Tenby outside half Harry Rossiter orchestrated matters and Asparassa was key in the way they attacked. But once the momentum turned, it was home skipper Foster who stood up to be counted, carrying hard and getting a crucial try.
Captaincy is often defined by decisions. Foster opted to turn down a draw and risk an outright victory. On this occasion, fortune favoured the brave.
Before the game, talented musician Harry Thomas played ‘The Last Post’ before both teams observed a minute's silence for remembrance weekend.
St Davids: Fred Dorn: Luke Bamford; Ben Joyce; Harvey Lavin; Bob Froy: Aaron Foster; Mike Gurney: Ethan Griffiths; Adam Williams; Charlie Lavin: Iestyn Owen; Cameron Sapsford: Daf Williams; Nathan Foster (Capt); George Raymond.
