Seniors B suffer again
Pembs Seniors (45 all out) lost to Lawrenny (46 for 0) by 6 wickets
Indeed, their plight would have been even worse but for the batting exploits of opener Mark Davies, who reached the retirement ceiling for the second game in succession and so had the majority of their runs as they were shot out in only 8 overs.
Rhys Daley led the Lawrenny bowling with a wicket brace in his single over, with Rhys Eynon, Taylor Lewis and Will Allen all taking a wicket apiece.
Julian Forster conceded only four runs from his six balls bowled,
and Phil Keen and Rob Canton also bowled steadily - and it has to be said that although they lost so heavily the Seniors B really enjoy their involvement as they get older but are still a credit to the indoor game!
Seniors B Batting: Mark Davies 27
Lawrenny Bowling: Rhys Eynon 1-6, Taylor Lewis 1-5, Rhys Daley 2-3, Will Allen 1-7
Lawrenny Batting: Charlie Arthur 27*, Noah Williams 11*
Seniors B Bowling: Julian Forster 0-4, Phil Keen 0-9, Rob Canton 0-19
Herbie win a competitive clash with F&G
Fishguard & Goodwick (104 for 4) lost to Herbrandston (106 for 1)
In Fishguard’s case it was their opening pair of skipper Nigel Delaney, one of the most experienced players left in indoor cricket, and ex-Llanrhian captain Iwan James, who got them going as the former retired on 30 from only 21 balls, and his side-kick was even quicker as he faced 14 deliveries and rapped two fours and a six.
Then Ashish Jayes looked like joining them in retirement until Dillon Lewis took a key catch off Rhys Power and the last three could only muster ten runs between them, alongside 14 extras, as Power picked up two wickets and teenager Lewis claimed the other.
Herbie’s free-scoring opening pair were soon at it again as Charlie Malloy (28 in 16) and Atticus Kingston (26 in 14) but for once No 3 Morgan Britton wasn’t able to join them because he was run out after scoring three runs from the only ball he faced!
But Rhys Power strode to the crease and followed his bowling success with a thumping that saw him belt three fours and a six from the 14 balls he faced before becoming Herbie’s third retiree.
Rob Kingston finished things off to go with his earlier stumping and Herbie were deserved winners of an absorbing clash as Rhys Power could claim the man of the match tag on this occasion!
F & G Batting: Nigel Delaney 30*, Iwan James 26*, Ashish Jayes 22, Extras 14
Herbrandston Bowling: Dillon Lewis 1-18, Rhys Power 2-22
Herbrandston Batting: Charlie Malloy 28*, Atticus Kingston 26*, Rhys Power 27*, Extras 17
F & G Bowling: Ashish Jayes 0-9
