Match One:

Cresselly ease home in tense finale

Cresselly (99 all out) beat Haverfordwest (88 all out) by 11 runs

Morgan Lewis - 42 runs for CressellyCresselly made a number of changes to their normally-youthful side to include ‘old timers’ Stefan Jenkins and club captain Tom Arthur alongside Lewis Jones, but they still had enough momentum to ease home against Haverfordwest as all three showed they can still contribute to this high-speed, compressed version of the game.

Arthur was particularly involved as he sustained a nastily-bruised shin making one of several good stops but at the start of their innings the impact was created by ‘young guns’ Griff Jenkins and Morgan Lewis, who both raced to their retirement score, and returning later on after their other quartet failed to make an impact as Matthew Rippenhag impressed on debut with two wickets and a great run out, and the other Town bowler to take a wicket was skipper Peter Soulsby.

Griff Jenkins was run out soon after he returned to the crease but Morgan Lewis scored almost half his team’s runs, that included 15 extras, before he was another of the four run outs for The Doves as they finished just short of the three-figure mark

Haverfordwest were in contention as Rippenhag and Jac Peters ran well between the wickets  and there were also useful contributions from skipper Soulsby and George Twigg but The Town were always just a little behind the asking rate as they lost wickets at key times against ‘golden oldies; Tom Arthur and Stefan Jenkins, whose son Griff led the way with a wicket brace.

In the final analysis Cresselly held on well for their narrow win but The Town certainly played their part in an absorbing clash!

Cresselly Batting: Griff Jenkins 28, Morgan Lewis 42, Extras 15
Haverfordwest Bowling: Peter Sousby 1-8, Matthew Rippenhag 2-28
Haverfordwest Batting:  Matthew Rippenhag 19, Jack Peters 19, George Twigg 20, Pete Sousby 16
Cresselly Bowling: Tom Arthur 1-26, Stefan Jenkins 1-22, Griff Jenkins  2-21

Match Two:

Hook’s greater indoor experience pays off

Carew (83 for 5) lost to Hook (87 for 3) by 3 wickets

Connor Davies - unbeaten for a second week for CarewGeorge James - batted really well for HookCarew are another team that is beginning to look comfortable in this newish environment and they pushed a more experienced Hook outfit close before missing out late on.

Rhys Davies made a belated debut in indoor cricket and batted well alongside skipper Corey Hall and Connor Davies, who retired after batting really well to reach that deadline.

Owen Phelps only conceded a miserly eight runs from is three overs and there was also a wicket apiece for Lewis Miller, Aled Phelps and Seth Willington as The Rooks finished with 83 for 5, a total they will soon improve upon once the learn to shot placement to the appropriate wall.

George James certainly showed the way to bat indoors as he sped to the retirement target and with support from Lewis Miller and the unbeaten Seth Willington they reached their target with a little to spare, despite useful Carew bowling by Rhys Davies and Carew captain Corey Hall,

Carew Batting: Rhys Davies 16, Connor Davies 28*, Corey Hall 21, Extras 10
Hook Bowling: Lewis Miller 1-16, Owen Phelps 1-8 (3 overs), Aled Phelps 1-27, Seth Willington 1-20

Pembs Seniors A  (96 for 4) lost to Neyland A (98 for 2) by 4 wickets

Paul Murray - batted really well for NeylandDavid Haynes - top scored for Seniors APembrokeshire Seniors produced arguably their best performance for some time as they set current champions Neyland A a sizeable target and pushed Sean Hannon’s team all the way as they set off in pursuit.

Old-timer openers David Haynes and Kevin Bowen gave the Vets a great start before they reached the retirement ceiling in good time, with Alan Webster also batting well before he was run out after facing only eight deliveries and belting a four and straight six.

But Mark Hicks, Nick Daley and Andrew Williams could only muster six runs between them so it was ‘Mr Extras’ contribution that helped them go close to three figures as only Jack John managed a wicket for Neyland.

Neyland lost Jack John to Alan Webster after he had reached double figures by then Patrick Bellerby and Paul Murray made a welcome to return and showed their class with a ‘retirement score’ each.

Korey Arran didn’t stay long as was bowled by Kevin Bowen but Corey Riley and skipper Hannon ran well together and punished the odd loose ball to seal another success with 11 deliveries still in hand.
