Penybont 1 – Haverfordwest County 1

Elliot Scotcher struck a late penalty to earn Haverfordwest County a deserved draw against runaway league league leaders and Welsh Premier destined Penybont at the Kymco Stadium.

The team from Bridgend are 16 points ahead of third in the table Bluebirds following this entertaining draw.

After an end-to-end first period it was Penybont who drew first blood as Kieran Kinsella struck two-minutes before half time. Up until that goal the back four consisting of Ricky Watts, Tim Hicks, skipper Sean Pemberton and Harri Rowe had coped well.

The second period was played at a frantic pace with both sides looking to score.

The visitors were given a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute. Scotcher kept his nerve to plant the spot-kick crashing into the back of the net and secure his side a point when all seemed lost.

Haverfordwest County manager Wayne Jones: “Overall I think it was a fair result. We were awarded a definite penalty at the end, but our display really warranted a point to be fair.”

Haverfordwest County: Steve Hall; Ricky Watts; Tim Hicks; Sean Pemberton; Harri Rowe; Elliot Scotcher; Tom Dyson; Elliot Thomas; Ben Fawcett; Jack Wilson; Jake Merry. Substitutes: Scott Thomas; Steffan Williams; Fraser Finlay; Kyle Stewart.
