Newtown 1 - Haverfordwest County 1

A shot cum cross by Rhys Abbruzzese led to an equaliser for Haverfordwest CountyHaverfordwest County picked up a thoroughly deserved point against in form Newtown at Latham Park.

Tony Pennock’s men came from behind to secure a draw with the Robins who moved up to third in the table whilst Bluebirds stay in eighth position.

Aaron Williams gave the home outfit an early lead before Rhys Abruzzese equalised which was termed an own goal by home keeper Andrew Wycherley just before the break, there were no further goals in the second half.

The Robins went close to scoring in the first minute as Louis Robles squared to Williams, the latter shot agonisingly wide, but minutes later the same man made amends as he struck the opener with a close range volley.

Minutes later the hosts continued to press when Louis Robles turned and shot from inside the box which crashed against Zac Jones’ post.

Tyrese Owen made a threatening break before he neatly laid the ball off to Martell Taylor-Crossdale who struck a firm shot from the edge of the area over the crossbar.

Goalkeeper Wycherley pulled off a good save to deny a header by Taylor-Crossdale from an Owen cross, minutes later Harri John fired a shot wide from the edge of 18 yard box.

The visitors equalised in fortuitous fashion as Abbruzzese’s cross cum shot was fumbled by Wycherley as the ball fell over his own goal line.

Shortly after the break Jones pulled off a decent save before Williams fired the rebound into the side netting.

Neither side created any further clear cut chances in the second period, but this draw is definitely a point gained as far as manager Tony Pennock will be concerned.
