Bangor City held on for a slender victory over Haverfordwest County at the Bangor University Stadium.

A new look Bluebirds outfit that included new signings goalkeeper Alex Connell, defender Kristian Speake midfielder Tomos Wellington and striker Jason Bertorelli, were looking for an instant impact.

Manager Wayne Jones would have been pleased with his team’s performance, but once again it ended in defeat. If the Bluebirds are going to survive in the Welsh Premier they have to start winning to dig them out of trouble as the second phase of the season will now get underway. The bottom six of the table who will strive to avoid relegation are Carmarthen Town, Aberystwyth Town, Bangor City Port Talbot, Rhyl and Haverfordwest County.

The Citizens broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, when Damien Allen scored with a cheeky bicycle kick.

Borrelli strikes

But the visitors clawed back an equaliser in the 36th minute when a defensive error allowed the in form Luke Borrelli to make no mistake with a low drive from inside the box.

Connell fumbles

However, on the stroke of half time the hosts regained the lead, a fumble by debutant Bluebirds goalkeeper Alex Connell saw Anthony Miley score with an easy tap in.

The visitors pressed in the second period, the closest they came to an equaliser was when Borrelli headed agonisingly wide from eight yards out.
